With ColeC & Roman Harrison show the Fla DL with 3 down linemen stuffing the Vol OL on run plays. That is simply embarrassing for those guys.

Florida had 5 guys (3 DL & 2 LB) in the box & Vols couldn’t run the ball. It’s very tough to throw with 6 DBs in coverage.

I think more teams are going to drop back coverage to prevent the deep ball. FL played a similar defense that AP played week before.

Is that because Milton is not a threat to run?
It’s because the OL as a unit is unable to create a pocket or open running lanes with any kind of consistency. So DCs dont need to stack the box to stop the run and can drop 6 while still getting pressure on the Qb.

They need to dink and dunk. When you watch the Colts and Broncos film from Peytons years, that’s how everyone played them. You take what you can get and you figure out a way to score once you’re in the redzone.

I don’t think Heup wants to do that but i dont see how he has a choice until this OL figures out how to run the dang ball consistently.

I think all teams this year appear to be willing to give up short gains, but not give any big plays. I've seen this a lot so far, not just against Tennessee.

Quick slants? But then, Milton needs to throw consistent dimes.

The outside screen game has worked some so far. I wouldn’t mind seeing McCastles run a few too. He ran angry when he got the ball.

We were leading the SEC in rushing going into the Florida game.

His lack of running ability allows safeties to stay back.

But defenses are willing to allow Joe to throw over the middle, too. Heup has called mostly horizontal plays for Joe. So the safeties play deep to prevent deep ball.

There was a series in the 3rd qtr against FL where Joe was on fire. Nice screen to left to Bru who absolutely trucked the DB. Nice QB run to right for 1st down. 2 great passes to Thornton. Was I dreaming? I'm too lazy to go back and check.

We knew all off-season this OL was not good. I dare say I feared it would be horrible. And while not horrible, they are not going to be able to do much against any decent SEC teams playing like this.

Sadly, I think UF is a pile of garbage …..and we just lost to them. Good news is I actually think we are better than UF and if we played them ten times we’d win 7-8 times - but this was a far pace from that.

It's a talent issue, and Mays being out. Don't look for a lot of improvement. Tough days ahead.

No it’s because we have a average OL and 2 key pieces of it was out vs UF.
We ran the ball more than we threw it last year and scored 45+ points a game.

If 5 guys stop our running, we’re not gonna be able to pass it.

Same thing that happened in Athens last year. If you can stop our run without loading the box it cripples our offense (and most other offenses also).

I mean, I did say that Fl would be all
Over the APU film last week. Folks, other teams sees something either in the OLine or Milton or both.
