Excellent way to represent the SEC, Vols. Vandy and Arky got smoked, but they were playing elite teams in the first week so that's just the way it goes, I suppose. I did not get to watch much of your game at all. Gators were on at 6 and it was pay-per-view. I'd have been killed by my friends if I had changed the channel.

I listened to some post game stuff on the radio afterwards, though, and sounds like you were up 35-0 in the third. Sounds as though there was a flurry of scoring by UT -- announcer said something like three touchdowns in six straight plays? Sounds more like a Spurrier-led Gator squad than the tried and true UT, lol.

At any rate, next you have Air Force and then us. I'd imagine you will be favored in both.

Now lawgator1, you are not supposed to be nice. It messes with my "hate the Gators and all Gator fans" mentality. :nono:

Thanks LG! Ainge had the game of his life with 280+ yards and 4 tds. Hardesty had a great td run where he ran through about 6 defenders. The D was awesome too.

We'll see you guys in two weeks!

How did the Gators look?

MBRO, not so good, but with flashes of greatness. The true freshman phenom Percy Harvin stopped running a route ealry in the game and caused and interception deep in our own territory and that was the So Miss score. The running game continues to be a big concern, though I did think that the offensive line improved a lot as the game wore on. Tebow ran for a touchdown and had to fight for the last yard and that was promising.

Defensively, obviously they played pretty well giving up only the one score deep in our own yard. But it just seemed like for all the talent they are a long ways away from putting it all together. Not saying they can't and when they do they will be VERY tough. Just right now they don't seem in synch.

Overall, I'd give the Gators a B- for that game.

I would add, though, that the receiving corp is truly gifted. Even Harvin made up for his one mistake a bit later with some nice plays. If we can get the ball to them, then opposition is in big trouble because they looked tall, lanky, and fast out there.

You guys always seem to play sluggishly in the first game though, but are ready by the time you play us. I think it will be a great game.

Well, we'll see. Its just that we barely outlasted you in Gainesville last year and this year Ainge is evidently playing a lot better and you are also going to have home field advantage.

One other thing the announcer said was that this UT offense was using a lot of motion prior to the snap to create more advantageous match-ups for you. He noted that last year UT did that very little and he attributed much of your success to that change. I am assuming that is the work of Cutcliffe? If so, a welcome change.

FOwler says Neyland isn't an advantage... :) I guess a gator would already know better, though.

Fowler is a buffoon. But he's an entertaining buffoon

Went to BWW yesterday. Had to have a friend drive me home. Beer was flowing and tasting good. We slowed down part way through the third quarter because we put Crompton and second string in for a while. Nice to see the team playing well again.

LG, this looks like the quickest D that UT has fielded in the last 5 years.

Thanks LG.Congrats on your victory as well.As far as UT goes, no matter how great we played, it is just one game, no matter how important it was,we still have alot of good teams to play: One game at a time.

I don't doubt it. The problem last year did not really seem to be raw talent, it was coaching and some bad luck and then some attitude problems as things spiraled further out of control.

A win versus a Top Ten team to start things off for this year sure will help out!! And if you beat us to start the SEC season, could be quite a year for you. You know you are going to lose somewhere along the way or have some real adversity of some kind or another. Every team, does. How you respond to that is the real measure of your impovement.
