It is very very unlikely that these Volunteers win the SEC East this season, but it's not impossible. Butch would have to have these kids win out to have a chance. So, let's say we pull the 4% chance and upset Alabama this Saturday, here is what we'd need to happen to make it to Atlanta.

Tennessee - win out

Missouri - loses to Tennessee, would need to lose 1 more against either South Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, or Kentucky

Florida - plays other team in running (Georgia) - loser would now be behind Tennessee; if UF wins Cocktail Party, they would then need to lose at home to Vanderbilt or on the road to South Carolina on Nov. 16th

Georgia - plays other team in running (Florida) - loser would now be behind Tennessee; if UGA wins Cocktail Party, they would then need to lose at home to Kentucky or on the road to Auburn on Nov. 16th

We already hold the tiebreaker over South Carolina.

So, if Tennessee can pull the biggest upset over Alabama and pulls the upset on the road at Missouri, circle November 9th and 16th on the calendar, because those Saturdays will be insane.

Granted, we just have to beat little ole Alabama this Saturday. Just fun to speculate in late October for once.

If it happens it will make the unlikely things that happened to get us the East in 2007 look like a cake walk.

Ill be happy with third in the East. Which if we lose to bama and Mizzou and beat Auburn, Vandy and UK, We'll be 4-4, which might get us third

Or win out after Bama and 5-3. Might be second or third. This SEC season is hard to predict.

Based on the fact we are better than Georgia and luck stole that game and we are better than USC and we proved that, I think we have as good a shot as we have had in five years to win both. If you don't think you have a chance what's the point .

well i don't see it as likely but i didn't in 2007 either

i will still be very pleased if we can win 7 this year - MO is better than i thought - but i wouldnt be surprised at all if we sneak in and get 8

more than that would definitely surprise me

We need to find a way to get to 7 wins first and win the Bowl game, then we are on our way back up that big Hill we been climbing the last 7 years, we got a long way still to climb but at least we have reached the clouds and fog part of hill and can barely see the top, but I can see it.

No, no and no again. Stop thinking about winning the east this year. I said before and i'll say again 7 wins for the Vols this year. The stage is being set for next year and future years on Tennessee being prominent again. This years team will be remembered for the foundation. Being at the game saturday and seeing Neyland stadium was great, seeing the win against the "lamecocks" was outstanding, seeing the stupid look on Spurriers face was..........priceless. Keep bringing it Vols.

My point was more - when under Dooley did we even get to have fun imagining the unlikely? Never.

Keep in mind, UT would have normally played Bama this past weekend and USC this upcoming weekend.

If only UT could have stopped UGA with 1:54 left in the game it would control it's own destiny...with a decent shot even with a loss to Bama.

It would be killer to win the East, but how damn terrifying would Alabama be in that SECCG...
