While it may be legal to have back taxes, the Internal Revenue Service has found that more than 279,000 federal employees and retirees owed $3.4 billion, yes, billion, in back income taxes.
Some members of Obama's executive staff of nearly 1,800 owed the government $833,970 in back taxes.
My first question would be, why does it take 1,800 employees to staff the executive office? Most federal employees are paid much more with better benefits than those who have similar jobs in the private sector. Another question, why do these individuals who owe back taxes still have jobs?
Internal Revenue Service Seems to me that the president should start with his own staff to pay their "fair share" or at least pay what they are already obligated to pay. By the way, the top 5 percent of taxpayers pay nearly 60 percent of all federal income taxes; the bottom 50 percent pay less than 3 percent, this from the Congressional Budget Office.
