We are regressing...

We've played three top 10 teams in row. Two of the three games were on the road. Two of the three games were started by a true freshman who never started before.

Actually only one of the games was started by a true freshman who never started before.

I disagree. If we would have played Oregon, Bama, mizzou and auburn the first four games of the season then played the cupcakes, Georgia and scar after it would appear that we were making major progress. It's just superior opponents man. We will get back there, I have faith!

No one wants Tennesse gang tackling and swarming to the ball like the days of old more than me. The fact is you have to have some speed to get there. I wasn't real happy when we hired Jones, but he has been making a believer of me and we must give him a chance.

I have had one gripe that was an obvious mistake by him. Every person in the country knew Richt was going to let us score. Jones should have had back kneel at 1 and run that time. I was cussing when we scored. We had that game and I will hang that loss on him. If we had no 1 defense in nation then it wouldn't have been so bad. But it don't take a brain surgeon to see we need more help

The kicking department on special teams was good, and Palardy was punting good yet again, but the coverage units were uncharacteristically bad.

When you have linebackers that cannot get off blocks and safeties that run themselves out of plays. There is only so much you can do.

???? That is exactly why you have coaches. Coach 'em up. Too late in the season for this same mental mistake crap and bad technique, coaches are exactly accountable for it.

Problem 1. Lack of speed
Problem 2. Lack of depth
Problem 3. Already slow players are playing more defensive plays due to lack of depth
Problem 4. Already slow players become slower due to fatigue
Problem 5. Fatigued players breakdown fundamentally and technique suffers
Problem 6. Bad fundamentals and technique means poor tackling

Answer: In Butch's recruiting we trust!

Technique and mental mistakes are worse. And they are not caused by the skill of the opponent. That is exactly why some of us fans are so upset. They are getting worse as the season goes on, and I mean the self inflicted stuff. Quality of the opponent shrinks the margin for error, but instead of improving mentally and stepping up they are regressing. Whoops, there goes another false start...

Just...no...

They absolutely are. Ever notice the teams with more talent are the teams with better discipline? Ever notice how Tennessee looks very disciplined against the likes of Austin Peay and Western Kentucky, but doesn't look as disciplined against teams like Oregon and Alabama?

Second post. The vast majority of our fan base are complete idiots.

If you can't see how depleted we are in speed and depth you are blind. I agree the defensive scheming may not be the best, but i'm not sure it matters.
We have WALK ONS playing tons of snaps on d. I'm not overly happy with our coaches, but when a team with little depth plays a top 10 opponent every week they are going to be worn down. Before this season 6-6 was a prediction that would make most happy and that was believing that auburn and mizzou were as bad as last year.

Last year's team should have been a contender for the East if not the SEC. No one is saying that this year.

I am much more concerned that this team looks no better than the one 3 years ago and perhaps worse. Very similar problems... but a coach that we now know was just not very good.

A repeat of Dooley part 1 by this staff... doesn't make me feel quite as warm and fuzzy as some of you apparently feel.

I think losing to a number 7 team is a lot different than losing to Vandy and Kentucky, but let's change coaches every year so we don't ever get anywhere. And by the way, Saben went 6-6 and lost to La.Monroe his first year at Bama.

Sure Fulmer got to where he couldn't control them but we need to get some back into the program! Look at Vandy, they are fairing quite well and it's not because they are the Stanford of the East either. Even if they are kickednoff the team after a year or two, look at what they can contribute! This is a serious thread so please take it as such.
