This is straight up stupid. The guy knew how to recruit talent, but with people like u constantly bashing him on boards like this and negative recruiting against him from other coaches using sites like this it's tough to seal up the talent. Do u actually think the son of an SEC coach that had been on SEC coaching staffs didn't know what SEC talent was???? Seriously think about how stupid u sound.

He was in on some good talent even in his last year ie the Greens, but it's tough to convince kids (and their families) to play for u when idiots on a board like this end up creating a whole forum for a replacement coach.

You're saying the opponent makes our players make mental mistakes? If you honestly think the opponent made Alex Bullard commit 3 penalties early in that game, then I guess you think no player is ever accountable for his own performance. Did the opponent make Jacques put us in a hole by stupidly spiking the ball in the end zone? Did the opponent make Tiny jump? No, the players are accountable for their own MENTAL mistakes.

Did you see our defense last year and the Troy game? We didn't magically get all new players this year. Our current coaching staff is trying to apply a bandage on a bleeding artery. We've played a top ten team virtually every week. I'll take over 400 yards of total offense to Auburn right now verses over 600 yards to Troy last year. There has been improvement. Don't jump off the ledge yet! Give them a year or two to bring in some speed.

It seems that whatever coach jones decides to focus on coaching in a week improves while other stuff regresses. He focuses on o-line this week and they do well. When he was spending "inordinate" amounts of time on special teams, they were doing well.

False starts, eh. It's not the reason we lost, although having that many false starts is never going to help your cause.

As for the general argument, yes, fundamentals are absolutely dependent on talent. Notice how our players are terrible at angles? Most of the time, that's due to not being fast enough to get to where you're supposed to be at the right time. Notice how bad our coverage team was? They did everything right in terms of kick placement, but they just weren't fast enough to close up any running lanes that were available. It's the same with the running game; we're 14th in the league in rushing defense, not counting the Auburn game, and 13th in the league in total defense.

These aren't new issues. The coaching staff is probably aware of them; but they can only do so much.

maybe it has to do with the three last teams we played losing only a total of 2 games all year.... and all three teams have much better offenses compared to everyone we will play except Oregon

It does indeed show that Sal Sunseri was not the cause of last years defensive struggle. Sal's Florida State defense is doing quite well this year. The lack of talent at UT is pathetic or worse.

I was not thrilled with the coaching yesterday but I am reminded that this schedule was and is absolutely brutal and we are playing with a hand of 2/3 in texas holdem. Butch will right the ship and his recruiting reflects his beliefs. I too am sick of seeing the weekly slaughter but I am patient. I probably would not be tolerant if I saw recruiting terrible but that is not the case. Butch said something in his post game that stuck and you don't hear a coach say everyday. I WILL turn this program around or die trying. I for one believe him.

Sal is a position coach at FSU not the DC.
