Yesterday's loss stings like crazy, and it sucks, no sunshine pumping from me, but we are still way ahead of schedule under Heupel. It typically takes 4 or 5 years to completely revamp the roster. We clearly have a great coach, otherwise last year would have never happened. No, I don't think last year was a "catching lightning in a bottle" scenario either just because he had a great QB. He is a proven, elite coach at developing QBs (Sam Bradford, Drew Lock, Hendon Hooker, etc.). I'm confident that more seasons like last year's or better are on the horizon (I like what I saw from Nico at the end of the UConn game). The defense, defensive philosophy, and possibly S&C need some work no doubt, but I think overall we'll be fine. That said, I really hope our coaching staff capitalizes on the A&M turmoil and grabs some of their defensive players.

In conclusion, we are ahead of schedule, and we have a really good HC that can develop QBs. In today's era of "offense-dominant" college football, I think Heupel fits really well. 8-4 isn't a bad season by any means. Heck, I remember myself and other fans included thinking we were a 7 win team at best after the Florida loss. Instead we ended up being one better than that.

We got outcoached and outplayed by a ridiculous level last night. By Missouri. A not great, but rather slightly-better-than-usual Missouri. A third-year coach at UT should be able to outcoach and/or out-talent Missouri. Even if they lose the game they should be able to win one of those two facets of the game.

Let me give you an assist. Heupel had success the past two years because he lucked up and a young man he could have cared less for, Hendon Hooker found the field when the golden child Heupel salivated over bringing to UT with him went down to injury. We are now seeing the results of that golden child this season.

Don't waste your effort trying to talk the nattering nabobs of negativism off their ledge. They're quite happy there.

We are WAY ahead of schedule. Anyone with an IQ higher than room temperature knew that this was a "bridge," year and 9-3 or 8-4, was the prospects for this team. We were (and are) too thin at WR and SEC caliber DBs (razor thin, Hadden loss was devastating) and that Joe Milton was gonna be a shadow of the greatness which was Hooker. Hooker was explosive...but the downside of his 38TDs 3INT season is that it set a false baseline expectation among the ignorant (of football) and casual fans. NOBODY is gonna come jn year after year and RESET the All-time records at UT for yards, TDs, efficiency etc. That just doesnt happen year in and year out....thats why they are "all time records".

That said....

Nico is the real deal. Our 23 and 24 recruiting classes are INSANE...the 24 class is the best at UT since 2001 at least. LOADED CLASS. LOTS of big uglies, and Matthews who is THE highest rated WR to EVER sign at UT since they started giving out star ratings. Him and Nico...along with Squirrel, Leacock, Webb etc should get our passing game back to the Hooker season level of production. Which only opems up the running game. All that.....WITH A TOP 25 DEFENSE FROM BANKS LIKE WE HAVE NOW

You damn NegaVols are the worst. Aside from that...youre IDIOTS that dont bother to read the recruiting news or keep up with what CJH is actually building at UT....WHICH IS A CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM....so you argue and beitch from a position of ignorance. Hahahaha. It is hilarious. Educate yourself about what's coming to the Hill. Then you will quit humiliating yourselves beitching about GREAT PROGRESS by CJH and staff.

as I have said in other threads, this was on the players not the coaches. The two fumbles and then basically quitting. The only thing I didn’t like was them not creating more designed run plays for Milton. But once they did and got a big play, he fumbled the ball. That’s on the super senior.

Also, this Mizzou team is much better than you think. Look at how well they played GA in Athens and how badly Georgia beat Ole Miss.
