LOL :clapping: I already pay enough money to my University, buddy... I don't have to spend 40 bucks to prove I'm a UT sports nut.

And JWells, on a similar note, we don't get in for free, we are paying for that entertainment, just not directly... There's a beautiful thing called an "Athletic Fee" that they charge us every semester, whether we use the facilities and go to the games or not... most people are just so dumb that they don't use what they are already paying for.

I dont know that I am verifying or discrediting any argument made on this thread, all I am saying if that it offends people so much that they weren't on the first row, join Orange Nation and get on the first row for every single game. That is what it is there for, so use it and stop crying if you don't get their perks...

but the orange nation doesnt always come and it makes the rest of the student po'd when the orange nation goes hmm... lets go to this game and get the seats over students that camped out front for 3 to 4 hours waiting to get in...

I understand that. That is why I was saying some members have no business being in there. There are many orange nation members that are at EVERY single game, myself included. My point is, and I will make it obvious for you,

REGARDLESS OF EVERYTHING, IF YOU WANT THOSE FRONT ROW SEATS AND WANT TO SHOW YOU ARE A FAN, PAY THAT SMALL FEE TO GET IN ORANGE NATION OR STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT GETTING THOSE SEATS!!!!

That is what those seats are for and everyone knows that, so if you dont get in the organization, it is your own fault in that case...

EXACTLY. It's diferent for football, where you've got to go pick up your tickets and it's luck of the draw. But in bball, we wait outside for HOURS. It should be first come first serve.

AFAIK, they aren't going to be doing stuff like this to us anymore.

That's it..you've got me...noone has been wronged..it's just me whining. Alright...it's not a disservice to those waiting all day long, no, couldn't be.

And I'm sorry I've ruined the entire game experience also....oh woe is me...i'm so saddened by this revelation...what should I do???

I guess just keep my mouth shut while I get screwed over by some student group that preaches support for all the sports, but in fact only is around for front row seats...

Back to the real subject. Pearl is a great motivator both on and off the court. He gets his players up. He gets the crowds up. He is the right fit for a job that no one wanted. He makes it his job and wants to be there. I like his coaching and I like him. HE IS OUR COACH AND DESERVES THE PRAISE.

Go to Foxsports.com and click into Basketball. They played on Fox. There is a video there but can't open at work. You can give that a shot.

The Orange Nation is BS. They made no effort to even make upperclassmen aware of its existence. My senior year at UT was its first year in existence. So, how did I find out about it? By seeing all these kids from Presidential Courtyard in the best seats at Neyland every single game. Meanwhile, I could clearly see all of them arriving after kickoff and leaving in the third quarter from my ZZZZZ seats. Not once during my final year at UT did I get a decent seat, but like 500 freshman were treated with incredible seats for every game.

Anybody can pay 60 bucks or whatever the crap it costs to get in to Orange Nation. I'd say most of the incoming freshmen pay it as they are moving into their dorms. It takes a diehard fan to sacrifice a lot of time to wait in line for tickets or seats. Paying a fee and wearing an ugly T-shirt shouldn't get you special fan privileges.

Get rid of Orange Nation's special privileges, or make them be required to spend some heavy hours on community service and philanthropy. There should be more than just a monetary commitment.

you arent a student anymore so you have no say. and before anyone that is gets on here, its only $40, so again, STOP CRYING and join on in. Just next time you wanna go eat at Macaronni Grill, don't go, save your money, and join Orange Nation. We will see what time you show up at the games...

(That was the longest sentence in the history of this board haha)

40.00 is a lot of money for only basketball. due to prior engagements I don't need it for women's or football.

Coach Pearl didn't say were going to try to kick FL. ass he said were are going to kick FL. ass. The greatest quote I have ever heard from a TN. coach. I have watched it about 100 times and it gets me fired up each time I watch it.

Well to be honest, can you really blame them? I was at UT in the early 80's during the Devoe years and even though we were competitive, it wasn't difficult to get tickets. And that was at Stokely. I will tell you that if I'd have been a student the last few years, it would have been difficult to get excited about the product Buzz put on the court, highlighted by poor coaching, excuses, and a general lack of effort by the players, all the result of a head coach who was in way over his head.

I think you will see with each and every game this season, that the student's will slowly return, and I'm not talking for just one game, but continuing to come game after game. This team and coach are a 180 degree swing from where we've been the last 4 years. Lets give the students the benefit of the doubt and while fair weather is a fair statement, there are only a few diehards who never lost hope.
I was there from 88-92 and went through the same thing. We would show up and cheer our way through mediocre basketball. I remember my funnest game was when we got to watch Shaq in Knoxville. The players weren't into it either. I remember one of my good friends was a player for Devoe and was basically living a miserable life. The players were not motivated and showed it on the court. My buddy told me that they were just showing up and were almost to the point of losing just to make Devoe look bad.

Okay. :( Thanks anyway.

LIO, if you can get a hold of a tape of the game, Fox Sports showed the scene sometime late in the first half, I believe. Pearl is outside the arena with the athletic dorm in the background behind a large group of students and fans. It's pretty intense.

Oh, once again, you've GOT to get yourself a DVR or TiVo.

I have the game on DVD but I am having a hard time converting the clip to post here. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do that??

Freaky... you can download a free program called VirtuaDub that could open the MPEG2 video you used for DVD, and then use an MPEG4 codec (divx or xvid) to encode it as MPEG4... save the new divx avi and then post it in the board. :D Sounds easier than it is... lots of work. I'll try and think of an easier way to do this.

Do you have the files used to put the vid on the DVD, or will you have to rip it back off the DVD and start fresh?

OK, quick and easy way to do this using just the DVD and a program called gui4ffmpeg.

EDIT!!!
Program here...

Instructions here...

Hope this helps...
