I certainly don't blame him for saying it.
Honest question. How long do you guys think it would take a great coach to win an SEC or national title there? It sounds ridiculous, but I'd have to think they may eventually be able to do it given a great coach who was willing to stay long enough. Just a hypothetical question, though. I don't expect many great coaches to accept the Kentucky job and then stay long term.
I believe they have one outright conference title, which I believe is only a result of Tennessee playing one less conference game for some reason.
True, they would likely have to upgrade them to attract any of the higher caliber recruits. I would think it would be possible, but it would take a long time. The biggest problem is I don't see a coach really wanting to stay there that long (unless it's an alum like Philips). It would take a very long time. it would be hard for them to catch up with the rest of the east because of a lack of history and talent in state, along with some of the worst facilities in thd SEC

I believe they have one outright conference title, which:
a) came under, in my opinion the best coach in college sports history
b) only happened because Tennessee played one less conference game
Last year, we beat one of the teams that went to the SECCG, and came within a last-second fieldgoal of beating the eventual national champion. I'm patient, as long as we see progress beyond 7-6 and the Music City Bowl.
