Their QB Spencer Rattler had a career day against us.

Having seen a full replay I'm not as annoyed with our db group as I previously was.

The continued accuracy of Rattler was ethereal. Seldom in my life have I seen repeated accuracy like that. Yes, at times their receivers were open and isolated but overall they were covered rather tightly by our dbs.

Fate dealt us a blow where a QB had a performance like this. "There is no defense against the perfect pass" the saying goes. Very unfortunately that happened to us.

He's a good one. Rattler was the concensus #1 QB his senior year.

On another note I am in total agreement that our DB#5 needs to shut up. Dude commits pass interference in the end zone leading to their TD on the next play and he's mouthing off.

If you aren’t annoyed with our DB’s, then you weren’t watching the same game. Also, Rattler is a slightly above average quarterback as it’s been proven time and time again. He did have a career game last night for unknown reasons except UT allowed it and he was on point.

Blah blah blah. He cant hit the "perfect pass" if he is laying on his back. That is something that didnt actually happen with enough frequency to make a difference.

If you are going to sell out to go after the QB you have to HIT HIM AND TAKE HIM DOWN.

Bad defensive play on top of giving a decent QB way too time. Just a bad defense with a bad game plan.

Agree completely. Glad I'm not the only one.

My dude… his receivers were wide open.

Like, no one within 15 yards of them. Rattler didn’t even have to “throw them open”, they were just sitting there with no one near them. It’s hard to miss throws like that.

Blitz, blitz, blitz. I know there are risks whenever you blitz, but SC was scoring touchdowns on every series they had anyway. It couldn't have been any worse if we'd try to blitz more. We need a defense that is aggressive as our offense. When we rushed five against Richardson on that last play we caused an interception. I thought we'd rush three and AR would get a touchdown. I was pleased to hear CH say we didn't want to let him get comfortable. We need more stunting and blitzing.

That’s been the frustrating thing with Rattler his entire career. He can look Heisman worthy one game and like a backup the next. Our secondary gave him a lot last night but he deserves full credit for his performance.

There is a defense against the perfect pass. You don’t give the quarterback a chance to throw it. You definitely don’t give him enough time to sit back there and work a crossword puzzle.
And I am sorry, but I refuse to accept the coincidence that all of these quarterbacks suddenly live up to their lifetime potential only when they play us. I refuse to buy that Rattler who has been a mediocre (at best) quarterback suddenly becomes a world beater in the seven days between Florida and Tennessee

We got no pressure on him all night.1 sack for the night. Can't give any QB all day in the pocket to throw. This also makes it very hard for secondary to do their job!

Something I haven't seen posted -

Many of our posters complaining all game about the holds on our players - NEWS FLASH - our db's hold or interfere in a very large % of plays and aren't called for it. Another coaching miscue.

Easy to make the "perfect throw" with no pressure and DBs either blowing assignments or playing 10 yards off the ball.

Rattler had 8 TDs all season until last night.

The pitiful defensive effort made him look like a 1st rounder.
