We Need A $2 Hike In Gas Tax?

Good lord are these guys brothers or something? LOL. (R) or (D) it doesn't matter anymore it seems.

At a hearing this week, Rep. Alan Nunnelee, R-Miss., specifically asked Chu if "the overall goal" of the administration is to "get our price down." Chu's answer was no.

In fact, he said that "somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," which are in the neighborhood of $8 a gallon.

Obama admitted as much when he was campaigning in 08. He said he wanted energy prices to go up.

Given our current economic outlook, this is borderline criminal. The economy simply won't grow at the needed rate when gas is $4/gallon.

I don't see how gas priced will go down, even if the reserves are released or Keystone is opened. Just too much damn instability in the ME that we cannot control even though we try damn hard to stick our noses in it.

I agree, not much you can do in the near term. My understanding has been that we have a refinery shortage in addition to a volatile (points for using your screen name in a post?) import relationship via OPEC and the ME.

Greater domestic supply + More refineries = lower gas prices?

Well that's exactly why we need to free ourselves of ME oil. They're all hell bent on killing each other anyway. There will never be true peace there.

I really don't think our government is interested in lowering gas prices. They know we'll pay it because it's a neccessity for our daily lives. This is where if we had some people in office looking out for our best interests it might help. It's a shame there isn't anyone up there like that.

I believe 'skyrocket' was the word he used.

Yes, Barack Obama is the sole reason gas prices are high, that picture just nails it.

Yeah, that's why gas prices started spiking in Bush's term... OPEC knew what would go down in '08.

Telling you, those cartoons is da troof.

T Boone Pickens has a pretty good plan. He wants to convert all over the road trucks to natural gas. I'm not sure I remember the numbers correctly, but I'm thinking they went something like this: We import 4 million barrels of oil/day from the ME. If all the trucks were converted to natural gas, that would eliminate the need for 3 million barrels of the imported oil. Eventually cars could be converted as well eliminating the need to import oil from countries that hate us and take our money we pay for their oil and use it to fund attacks on our nation We have abundant supplies of natural gas; however, it is not the final solution because it is a non-renewable resource as well. He called it a bridge fuel that buys us time to develop more practical vehicles that operate off of renewable energy. I liked the idea.

He has publicly stated that he wants to increase energy prices across the board but then he isn't at fault to his goofball admirers when prices do rise.
