We Should Beat Mizzou - We Are Getting No Respect

Are we being underestimated because of our schedule?

This is a game where we are not being given a chance to win, but I think we have a lot of advantages the casual pundits are dismissing. I don't think Maty Mauk or a gimpy Franklin can beat us.

Go Vols!

Edit: A good example of what I'm talking about. Every "expert" but Bruce Feldman on CBS Sports is picking us not to be able to cover a 12.5 point spread. So they all feel it is more likely that we'll lose by 13 or more, than not? I don't think there is any validity in that viewpoint.

Expert Picks - Against the Spread - Week 10 - CBSSports.com

They have experts at CBS? Feldman is the only one of these guys I have ever heard of. Like his pick!

Hoping we have a Fulmer "like" November. I think Missouri is highly overrated. Franklin accounted for a lot of their offense. 1 game without Franklin 0-1. Its about to be 0-2. Dobbs is going to have to throw though to win. Their run defense is their strength so we need to capitalize on their weakness.

This said, this team is not built to come from behind by much so we need to hang with them and match scores early. This will not be a low scoring game in my opinion. I could see an overtime win (ala UGA minus the fumble) or last minute field goal like USC win.

But didn't Missouri beat both Florida and Georgia by more points than the spread against us Saturday? And we've only covered in one loss so far, right? I don't see the disrespect, I think it's just a matter of the experts using recent history and playing the percentages. I hope they're wrong, but I don't really see the disrespect.

Exactly until this team puts together more wins vs top 25 teams they'll remain the underdog plus it's a rebuilding year not surprised

Sounds like several of you should have plenty of Christmas money on Saturday night. Go ahead and bet the house on Tennessee and have a happy holiday.

I don't get why anyone cares about what the media thinks. I have faith in this coaching staff, and these players. They know what's at stake, and I think they'll win.

Keep seeing all these vol fans giving every reason why we should lose. We're not the only team with some weaknesses. Their not a deep team either. They have a freshman qb who panics, doesn't check down, and is not even throwing 50%. Their agressive pass rush gets them killed in the pass game. They are the worst pass d we will see. They are a system team. They truly aren't more talented. Henry Josey has a concussion. Now go play ball. The vols will be right in it.

Yes, because a team that just got taken to the woodshed by Bama, only beat 1 decent team, is facing a 1 loss top 15 team AND IS STARTING A NEW FRESHMAN QUARTERBACK should not be picked to lose by 2 scores. Shame on the experts and rich vegas. Shame.

I watched the replay of the Mizzou-USCe game last night. They gave that game away. If it comes down to a kicking game battle I like our chances. The RB screen should def be in the playbook tomorrow.

They beat UF without Franklin.

Fellow Vol devotee, allow me to address your arguments point by point:

1) because a team that just got taken to the woodshed by Bama

So you think Mizzou would win at Bama with their 112th in FBS pass defense?

2) only beat 1 decent team

You mean South Carolina? The team Mizzou just lost to?

3) is facing a 1 loss top 15 team

If James Franklin was healthy, this would be a valid point. What is their record with Mauk as a starter? 1-1

4) AND IS STARTING A NEW FRESHMAN QUARTERBACK

So are they. Mauk is a freshman who just went 10-25 with 1 pick. He also hit Gamecock dbs in the numbers several times and they dropped easy picks.

Do you really think from watching both teams that we should be expected to lose by 2 TDs?

Or are you doing what most are, looking at Mizzou's record and ranking, not their body of work?

Asking a true Freshman, who's making his first start on the road against the #10 team in the country, to win is a tall order. I hope we can pull it out but I have serious doubts.

Dobbs is a huge question mark. Mizzou's D isn't even in the same realm as Bama's... but we still do not know how good Dobbs will perform.

Florida and Georgia were different teams when we each played them. Keep that in mind. Dobbs is going to have a big game and I think we will pull this one out. Butch will have them ready.
