not giving up means trying to score before time runs out be it the last minute of the game or not. especially when you have 3 time outs. and AJ has already said he is leaving for the NFL Curt Maggitt said this on the butch jones show that it was his and AJ's last season. put in someone who can cover over the middle has to be some one that can at least do that.

Who would you put in to "cover the middle?"

Given the state of our program we could not have a worse schedule. Who in hell makes a schedule like ours? :loco:  :nono:

i don't care. we can't fully tell about the coaching staffs ability to coach until after the Georgia game. They should have 2 wins out of the next 3 if they can coach. But i expect and prefer them to have 3 wins out of 3 if they can get these bought in players to execute.

This is a perfect example of why drunk people should put the Internet down.

We "should" beat UF or UGA but you "expect and prefer" them to beat them both...."if they can coach".

Well Coach, other than being a Vol fan, why should they beat those 2. Football is all about matchups. Please look at our rosters and their rosters and tell me where your expectations hold water. What past performances have led you to believe that these things "should" happen? So all of a sudden we get a whole lot faster on D...because, yes those guys standing on the sideline not playing can absolutely FLY? All of a sudden we will have experienced WR's and a quality SEC tailback on our roster? All of a sudden we will magically discover a QB on our roster that can walk and chew gum at the same time?

AJ is in no way ready for the NFL. Neither is Curt but that's obvious. Kid hasn't been healthy but about 4 games in his entire career.

brewer or Byron moore, some one, they can't do any worse than aj.

So take out a linebacker who was top 5 in the country in tackles last year and insert Moore who is just as slow and has trouble tackling. We should have just hired you.

it's up to the players not me. I want us to win, it's a tennessee tradition that we have not upheld the last 8 years and it's time for that to change.

But I thought it was up to the coaches...now it's the players?

I agree, things have to change. Anybody that expected them to magically flip back by the 3rd game is crazy. We do NOT have the players this year. I hope we steal one of the games we're not supposed to, but I'm not getting my hopes up and setting unrealistically high expectations that we cannot possibly meet.

Here's a scary thought for you....We might be slightly worse next year, looking at the roster and who we lose.

being a leading tackler in the country will only get you on special teams in the nfl if you got no pass coverage skills.

next year ain't gonna be much better. all i am asking though is play tough don't get blown out again and win a bowl game this year and next.

even with the absolute best gameplan, do you think it would be likely that we would have been able to stop them?

Stop them? Probably not, but you can slow them down and dictate the pace with the proper and well thought out game plan. What Jones and company showed up with was a head scatcher. Imo, Jones needs to adapt the offense to the personnnel he has...right now, it appears that he is trying to force a square peg into a round circle.

Agreed. But it's not happening this year, and if you thought this was the year for Tenn to return to dominance then you need psychiatric help.

He was top 5 in tackling because our defensive was so bad he had to. What middle linebacker isn't the top tackler on the team. AJ will not be playing on Sunday.

That being said I don't see anyone better to replace him. Watching the highlight vids on espn it was very evident our linebackers are slow and confused on the field. They spend a lot of time jogging around chasing plays.

Hello, captain obvious oregon ain't in the SEC!

Yeah, but Florida and UGA are, genius. You said these changes needed to be made so we could win those games.

I couldn't give 2 craps about what kind of player he becomes in the NFL (I hope he is very successful and productive). He produces for us. There are 10 other guys out there that need to do their job as well.

smh...I'll bite. So what mistakes did they make, and how would you fix them?

Ok, reverse would have slowed down rush, RB screen play short pass (which helps Worley's accuracy) would have slowed down rush made LB's think for a second which would allowed tight ends to be open on same formation later, QB keep ball once in every 3 games to make that fake hand off work or don't waist time doing it. On third and five on there side of field take shot deep knowing your going for it on fourth if not successful shut to give safeties one thing to think about. Throw it deep to much taller WR just see if he can make play. Those few things come o mind.. Offense was Vanilla. Reminded of Phulmer vs Spurrier. We kick FG's, he goes for it on fourth and score td's..players feed off their coach..

I'm glad the liquor is wearing off, because you were asking/expecting us to beat both UF and UGA.

He was top 5 in the country, not on the team.

a change needs to occur to help win them games, the coaches are being paid to figure this out not me. but if something is not done to try and fix it our defense won't be much of one this season.

i am still expecting us to beat both uf and uga and bama but i know way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way deep down it might not happen. But don't wanna think about that until it says 0:00 on the game clock and the team is on the bus.
