I was looking for a thread to post this in, so here goes...
I am posting this here because I am not able to start my own thread yet (maybe this isnt even thread-worthy in the first place, who knows). Now, I know that this is hard to think about after a loss like todays. I am not saying that any of this will happen, I am just posting this because I was curious myself and thought those who are unwaveringly optimistic might appreciate it.
For Tennessee to win the SEC East:
Tennessee must win out;
AND Missouri must lose to either Ole Miss [5-3 (2-3), Week 13] or Texas A&M [6-2 (3-2), Week 14] (as well as losing to us, which is implied in this set of circumstances);
AND Georgia must lose to Florida [4-3 (3-2), Week 10] and Auburn [7-1 (3-1), Week 12];
AND Florida must lose to Vanderbilt [4-4 (1-4), Week 11] and South Carolina [6-2 (4-2), Week 12];
AND South Carolina must lose to Mississippi State [4-3 (1-2), Week 10];
(This set of circumstances assumes that Georgia will beat Kentucky [1-6 (0-4), Week 13])
In this set of circumstances, Tennessee would finish with a conference record of 5-3, Missouri 5-3, South Carolina 5-3, Georgia 4-4, and Florida 4-4.
Of the necessary circumstances, Florida losing to Vanderbilt and South Carolina losing to Mississippi State seem the most unlikely. However, Vanderbilt did beat Georgia (ranked #15 at the time, although with significant injuries) and Mississippi State barely lost to Auburn (although they barely beat Bowling Green and Kentucky).
Personally, I would be happy to see a 7-5 regular season with a bowl game.
