We will still win the East...

No we needed Missouri to beat South Carolina pretty much.

You're asking a pitiful Mississippi state or what's left of the the Florida Gator's roster to beat South Carolina.

This storyline's done for the year as far as TN goes.

Although it is highly unlikely, this scenario is not categorically eliminated until an eastern division team wins six conference games or we lose a fourth SEC battle.

Not about being a pussy, about understanding football.

UT would receive that same beating if we played again.

You're right.....let's just make sure we lay an egg for the rest of the schedule to avoid an SEC Championship Game embarrassment. Dumb beyond belief.

Given tonight's track record for threads, this one has irony to no end.

We can win out and still are not going, moron.

I didn't say we had a reasonable chance at going, we would need serious help and a few miracles. But I'm not dumb enough to post the notion that even if we made it, it wouldn't be worth it because we'd play Bama. Go ahead, post some more brilliance.

I was looking for a thread to post this in, so here goes...

I am posting this here because I am not able to start my own thread yet (maybe this isn’t even thread-worthy in the first place, who knows). Now, I know that this is hard to think about after a loss like today’s. I am not saying that any of this will happen, I am just posting this because I was curious myself and thought those who are unwaveringly optimistic might appreciate it.

For Tennessee to win the SEC East:
Tennessee must win out;
AND Missouri must lose to either Ole Miss [5-3 (2-3), Week 13] or Texas A&M [6-2 (3-2), Week 14] (as well as losing to us, which is implied in this set of circumstances);
AND Georgia must lose to Florida [4-3 (3-2), Week 10] and Auburn [7-1 (3-1), Week 12];
AND Florida must lose to Vanderbilt [4-4 (1-4), Week 11] and South Carolina [6-2 (4-2), Week 12];
AND South Carolina must lose to Mississippi State [4-3 (1-2), Week 10];
(This set of circumstances assumes that Georgia will beat Kentucky [1-6 (0-4), Week 13])

In this set of circumstances, Tennessee would finish with a conference record of 5-3, Missouri 5-3, South Carolina 5-3, Georgia 4-4, and Florida 4-4.

Of the necessary circumstances, Florida losing to Vanderbilt and South Carolina losing to Mississippi State seem the most unlikely. However, Vanderbilt did beat Georgia (ranked #15 at the time, although with significant injuries) and Mississippi State barely lost to Auburn (although they barely beat Bowling Green and Kentucky).

Personally, I would be very happy to see a 7-5 regular season with a bowl game.

Believe me, any brilliance posted on this board goes over your head.

How is that about understanding football? grow a pair you coward. you're a "fan" and you're afraid for your team wo win out, get lucky, and have a chance to win the SEC Championship but youre against it bc you "understand football" and know "UT would receive that same beating". What a little b*tch you are. I hate you, go cheer for some other team

Anybody would be happy with 7-5 and a bowl game this year. That would be like getting the bb gun for Christmas.

I'm going to be tickled to death winning two more games and making a bowl.

Making a bowl game, getting that extra practice and exposure, and maybe winning us a few extra bucks on the side will do wayyyyyy more for our program than us backing into Atlanta and getting bludgeoned by Bama again.

Now do one of two things: put the bottle down or walk away from the keyboard.

Tard number 3. They can win out and they are not going to Atlanta.

Anyone thinking a rematch produces different results has the football understanding of a 3 year old girl.

I agree why can't there be a 5 way tie.

Being able to go or not doesn't matter. You said you don't want to play them again. I may have the football understanding of a 3 year old girl but at least that girl will get in the ring.

So you wouldn't mind seeing us go to Atlanta and get beat like a drum again? I personally would much rather go to a bowl game against a team we actually have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

what the hell are you talking about? when did you start thinking winning the east and going to the SEC championship is mutually exclusive with going to a bowl game?
