NEW YORK — Jose Canseco says in his new book that he introduced Alex Rodriguez to a steroids distributor and that A-Rod pursued Canseco's wife, according to the Web site of freelance writer Joe Lavin.
Lavin says on the Web site that he obtained the book, "Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and The Battle to Save Baseball," on Monday from a bookstore in Cambridge, Mass. The book is due to be released April 1.
Lavin writes Canseco's book discusses A-Rod, Roger Clemens and Magglio Ordonez.
He says Canseco claimed he didn't inject Rodriguez but "introduced Alex to a known supplier of steroids." Lavin also says "Canseco claims that A-Rod was trying to sleep with Canseco's wife."
"I really, absolutely, have no reaction," Rodriguez said Tuesday when asked about the claim relating to the steroids distributor. As far as the allegation regarding Canseco's wife, Rodriguez responded:
"I don't know how to answer that."
Canseco writes about the infamous June 1998 party at his house. Brian McNamee, Clemens' former trainer, has said Clemens spoke with Canseco at the barbecue and soon after approached the trainer about using performance-enhancing drugs. According to Lavin, Canseco wrote that Clemens did not attend.

Thoughts?

Canseco is one of the more pathetic figures that I can think of.

i would be willing to wager that if you played baseball long enough you would be introduced to a steroid dealer. whether you knew it or not.

Don't disagree that he's pathetic, but he's been getting proven right more and more every day the past year or so.

He might be, but he looks like the most honest guy to ever play baseball right now.
How can you really tell though? He's carrying out a vendetta by throwing everybody under the bus for financial gain. It's ridiculous that some view his word as gospel just because others have lied.

you mean to tell me i was wrong all this time to think that he had the best interest of baseball in mind?

i'm shocked to hear otherwise. :mega_shok:

Canseco simply wants to clean MLB up. How dare you suggest a former Oaktown A would be out simply for his own good. The man was 1/2 of the Bash Brothers. They are both as clean as they come. Can't fool me.... :whistling:

He's a pompous ass that will eventually be caught in a lie. I don't take his word for gospel.

However, he's been the most honest and straightforward yet about the steriod use in baseball.

One more thing, he's making Selig squirm, which I like.

We knew it was coming since his last book. Hopefully for his sake, Alex has his story straight for the impending Congressional Oversight Committee chaired by Chris Shays (R-CT) that will meet over the All-Star Break.

Canseco also mentioned in an interview that he believed Clemens was innocent. As for Canseco as a person, he's trash.
