going to Webb having known Dwight for a couple of years, this is a great pickup. He meant everything to our team and has the tools to be a good SF at Cornell.

How about congrats to him for being a candidate for being a productive member of society and going to Cornell?

I guess you missed the "congrats to him" part of the post. This is great news. However it belongs in the Around the NCAA forum. It has nothing to do with Tennessee recruiting. What's the point of having forums if they are not used as intended? Let's just have one giant forum.

Congratulations to him. He has a very special opportunity to play for an Ivy League school, who also has a fine basketball program.

Its too bad they don't give athletic scholarships

They don't need to. Every Ivy League school has an insane endowment. You get admitted, and there are academic scholarship funds out the wazoo available.

The trick, of course, is to get admitted. Ivy League schools don't water down their standards for basketball players. Tommy Amaker apparently tried to get Harvard to do that, and was rebuffed.

Some schools are more generous than others. Cornell doesn't hand out cash left and right like Princeton.

I don't know if Ivy League schools water down their standards for basketball players, but Dawson Halliday (Bearden/Yale) is living proof that they do for football.

There are plenty of guys on Ivy rosters who would have never sniffed admission at their schools if they couldn't play.
