That's great to hear Yancey got a scholarship. Sounds like he deserves it.

Did you see where Yancey is a nuclear engineering major??

I have read some reviews of the scrimmage, and this is what I got out of it:

Leak has not separated from Clausen and the freshman, but can run the offense. (9/16 59 yds.)

Clausen is good with the offense, but lacks arm strength. (7/9 77 yds.)

Schaeffer makes plays, but mostly with his legs. (6/10 42 yds. 1 TD, 5 rush 60 yds.)

Ainge makes some bad decisions at times, but can get the job done, great arm. (8/15 123 yds. 1 TD)

Houston is getting left behind. (7 carries, -1 yards)

Riggs continues to look like the starter.

Receivers look good.

D-line and LBs still make plays.

Toeaina needs to step it up.

Leak - can run offense but still has decision problems.

Clausen - knows the offense but as storm says lacks arm strength

Schaeffer - makes plays with legs and not all plays are good indicated by the 2 fumbles tonight.

Ainge - good arm, good timing, and every now and then tries to do a little to much but may take care of the ball better than all the others.

The big thing that bothers me is you have a SR QB who cannot even seperate himself from green freshmen.

From what I read, no one has done enough to displace Leak as the starter.

I haven't heard what Fulmer had to say this afternoon, but I've seen 2 reports that he all but said that it was going to be Ainge or Shaeffer . . .

Does anybody know if we have ever actually started a Freshman in the OPENER?? I know it hasn't happened in the last 20 years.

I don't think we need to throw a freshman in there on the first game of the season ,even though its' against UNLV.I say let Leak see what he can do and maybe we can get up a good first half score ,then throw in the freshman.I totally disagree with throwing in someone that greento start the year off for us unless CPF is really confident in that decision.

I'm 100% sure that starting freshmen at QB is the last thing Fulmer wants to do. I'm afraid it's more a function of Clausen and Leak not doing anything at all to win the job. I've got to think that if Leak showed any competency at all, he'd be named the starter tomorrow. :shakehead:

Just read the article on utsports.com,it sounds like CPF is really impressed with the way Schaeffer and Ainge are working and maturing to the program.

I don't know about Leak,but I bet Clausen don't like that news.

I read where Clausen said he was really suprised about this. Especially the way he played in the last scrimmage. :dunno:
