Today around lunch. They haven't come out yet because of the Miami and fsu game on Monday night. They were waiting for it to be completed.

why would they leapfrog SC? they beat a mediocre Vtech team. SC played a lousy team, but they did nothing to be dropped.

Should I follow with:

Yes they should.

or....

I know you are but what am I?

How about some type of logical reason why they should not?

Sure... they started ahead of Bama and both won their first game. USC beat a team they should beat by a decisive margin, Alabama beat an overrated ACC team. I don't see why that means Alabama should jump anyone. Do you really think Bama could beat USC?

How about giving me some reasons why they should?

Because its happened time and time again in the past, and the proof is in the pudding. Media pollsters/voters tend to place more value on beating a top 10 team rather than pummeling a nobody, whether we the fans think the said team is mediocre. With USC and Bama only being 1 spot apart from each other, its just a hunch that it might happen.

Were this during the BCS polls with computer rankings, I would almost say its a sure thing they would leapfrog. But since its just the media poll, they might not because everyone loves them some USC.

I think it is very telling that Alabama couldn't pull away from a team who they out-gained 498-155

Thats a great point. However, I don't think that the majority of news writers, beat writers and media talking heads look at the hardline stats. They watch a broad spectrum of games. West coast voters probably watch mostly west coast games, and vice versa. They vote on the final score and maybe the first paragraph of a news story.

The coaches poll for all we know is being voted on assistants, proven by Spurrier.

I'm just saying i've seen it happen before, and its likely to happen again.

And honestly I think at this point in the season, Bama is a better team than USC.

(No, I'm not a Bama homer)

Can I get in on this bet? Bama will not jump USC, that has about the same amount of chance of happening as Tennessee jumping to number 1.

Alabama still looked very impressive on defense. And that wasn't a bad first start for their quarterback. They may not make a big leap in the polls this week but I'm much more concerned about them now.

They did look good on defense, however, Va Tech's offense is not exactly anything to write home about.

Thats why in my OP I said I would "ALMOST" bet. :)

And Bama did get two first place votes, even though their 4th. Meaning at least two talking heads proved my point, somewhat. lol

Frank Beamer's and Nick Saban's votes shouldn't count.

Suckeyes almost lose to a service academy and they're still top 10?

Gotta love it. USC will crush those jokers again.
