I'm not trying to make an official post or anything. I didn't see one just for line discussions. A few years ago I got heavy into betting NCAA on a couple of the websites and went from $100 to well over $2,000 in a single season. Most of it was done by hitting a few killer parlays but I also tried to play smart with my $$ and I felt I done a decent job.
Now with all the new regulations about online sports betting it makes it much more difficult to do this anymore. So, I don't have any $$ tied up into any of these sites anymore. I would think about getting back into it if I knew where to place my $$ where I could safely get it back out when I wanted to without much hassle.
But that's not the discussion here. I just thought some here may want to discuss the lines intelligently. I play a weekly board at work that has about 30 people playing weekly. Its a 10 game pick'em contest against the spreads. Winner take all - tiebreaker is total score in a particular game. I kid you not out of the entire season last year I finished 2nd 9 times, tied for first 3 times, and SPLIT a tiebreaker the time I won it. The total was like a 44 and one guy had a 42 and I had a 46 so we split the $$. They done two boards this week since there were so many games spread out over the weekend. Again, I finished 2nd both times - with 7 out of 10 games won on each card.
I thought maybe some discussion could help me get over the hump. Every week I curse myself for one pick so this week my two cursing picks were playing Colorado -10.5 at home against CSU on one card and playing Nevada +14.5 against Notre Dame on the other card.
Here are the games I am having to play this week:
Syracuse +28.5 @ Penn State
Troy +36 @ Florida
Marshall +19 @ Virginia Tech
East Carolina +6.5 @ West VA
TCU -10.5 @ Virginia
Notre Dame -3 @ Michigan
UCLA +7.5 @ Tennessee
Mississippi State +14 @ Auburn
South Carolina +7 @ Georgia
Southern Cal -7 @ Ohio State
Quick glances tell me there's a couple I really like from the early looks and they are playing Cuse +28.5 against PSU, TCU -10.5, and Southern Cal -7.
I'm leaning Notre Dame -3, East Carolina +6.5, and Mississippi State +14
The rest of the games are head scratchers on the surface to me. Having to play Tennessee every week worries me because I try not to let team loyalty get in the way of good picks. That's why when I would bet whatever I wanted I'd never bet on UT. I am leaning towards UT at home against UCLA but not sure about that one. Also, I'm thinking South Carolina could come down to Georgia and get a win. Of course they also could come down there and get pounded 28-7 or something like that too.
Right now also no idea about Marshall/Virginia Tech or Troy/Florida. That Florida game is alot of wood to be laying but Troy looked God awful this past week against Bowling Greene so I will probably go Florida there.
Feel free to add any game discussions. I will try to look over these picks a bit more over the next day or two and decide how I'm going to play the sheet this week.
