Arkansas came to town for the first of two home and home games with them before going back to Jerryworld in 2014. I'm a big fan of playing college games on campus so this was like a dream come true to finally break the streak the Pigs had on us.
The weather was considerably crappy, but it didn't slow anyone in maroon down.
Offense: JFF is/was impressive again putting up huge numbers and controlling the offense calmly while still taking advantage of what the defense gives him. We threw over the top and got the seniors involved which was great, and had a productive running game. The best part was, unlike in previous years, they came out after half time and turned it up to put them away. Something that hadn't been done in the last 3 years.
Defense: Moore was awesome again and considering they only allowed 10 points, I'd say there is damn little to complain about. Sure they put up over 500 yards, but we bended, but never broke. The Ags won the turnover battle and stole any momentum Arkie tried to gain. Great effort.
Special Teams: Too many fg attempts, but that's ok when you make em. The punting and coverage was great and I was pleased to see us avoid letting "the big play" happen. If Arkie gets a good run back early, things might have been more of a struggle.
Overall, solid SEC win against a very down team. Granted, we cant control who is up and who is down when we play them. I liked that Sumlin never let off the gas with the 2nd and 3rd string and continued to pile on. Some say its classless to "run it up" but if you're doing it with backups, I see no problem.
Next is Ole Miss in Oxford. They'll want to run and have a similar style with a mobile qb. I'm thinking their defense is fairly weak though so we'll have to see how that turns ot. Being on the road will be a change for our guys and Oxford is great a place I hear. I still like us to win though so,
Ags 42 - Rebels - 20
Maybe we break in to the top 25 after a road win? We'll see.
