I'll start by saying I love SHSU. Have one of my degrees from there. Met my wife there. Great school, great football program, and fun team to cheer for in the sub-division series.
The offense started of slow which was to be expected I suppose coming off of last week, but they opened up in the 2nd and put it away.
The defense did their part by grabbing some INT's and limiting a pretty good deep ball threat from Sam.
Special teams had a little fun this week when they allowed JFF to attempt the PAT. Sadly, we've discovered there is something the kid cant do. Better luck next time I suppose. In hindsight, you gotta feel for Taylor Bertolet though. Its pretty rough when your all world Qb is called up to make a fg.
Overall, no one got hurt on either side, which was my concern going in. No need to leave your horses out in the second and Sumlin pulled em. SHSU grabbed some scores in garbage time, but they too, have bigger fish to fry down the road. Pleased to see them leave Kyle healthy and ready to make a playoff run.
Next up and last one of the year: Mizzou.
We'll see.
Side note of this week. Not too happy to see us actually drop a spot, but I was pleased to see K-State remove themselves from post season awards and such. The #JFF4Heisman campaign ought to be in full swing now.
Furthermore, getting bumped from potentially playing in the Fiesta sucks. The Cap1 bowl is still an option though and I suppose, I'd be ok with that. We'll be pulling for Free Shoes U this week though.
Gig em.
