Coach Sutton will take over at the University of San Francisco, effective immediately.

Hope he has his imbibing under control. Some of those hills in San Francisco are pretty steep...

How's Eddie gonna fit in socially with the liberal tree huggers in northern California?

Yes, San Fran is in the West Coast Conference with Loyolo Maramount, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, St. Mary's and Santa Clara amongst others.

speaking of the WCC, how much longer until Randy Bennett from St. Mary's gets a big time coaching gig, hat? If i'm not mistaken, St. Mary's was an at large in '05 and are close to being ranked this year at 10-1 with that huge win over Oregon.

If Oregon State doesn't fire Jay John at the end of the season and hire Bennett, they immediately become the dumbest basketball program in a major conference. I was a bit surprised Randy didn't get the Arizona State job, but it's hard to argue with the hiring of Herb Sendek.

is OSU his best/only shot at upgrading? I understand it's a move into the Pac 10, but he's got pretty good numbers. Perhaps i'm underrating Oregon State though. The Beavers have been AWFUL for a long, long time.

Bennett's pipeline into Australia gives him the type of recruiting gimmick one needs to jumpstart the OSU program. Randy might have better offers. Oregon State is simply the one major school out west that seems certain to have an opening.

I heard them interview him tonight on local radio. He wants to get 800 wins, and at 73 he's recovered from back surgery and his DUI problem.

I was wondering about his drinking problem....I heard on the radio this morning that he stuck with the minority act and hired Jose Quervo as his asst...

Joke didnt have alot of class, but it was still funny...

don't forget that st mary's is all of 15 miles from Cal's campus. if Cal misses the tourney again (entirely possible), i'd say he'd be at the top of our AD list.

They would have been my second choice for Bennett. I just don't see a lot of impetus to fire Braun. The AD seems comfortable with him.

I am always shocked at the number of UK fans who continue to speak very fondly of Eddie. It is great to have him back.

the largest donor to the atheltic department is a close friend of braun's. The alumns and boosters are not happy with the basketball program. He hasn't made it past the second round since 1994. Attendance has been steadily declining. If he misses the tourney that means he's missed it 4 out of the last 5 years. Barbour will have no choice but to fire him. Personally i think another 7-10 seed and a first round exit would do it too.

You´re such a baiter! :)

I´m probably in the minority with this sentiment, but here goes;

Eddie inherited a culture of cheating at UK. It was going on all the way back to the Big Guy himself. He was just the guy who got caught.

Glad to hear that he´s going for the chance to exit with grace. Would have hated for ANYBODY to finish such a brilliant career like he did in Stillwater.

who is this 'big guy' character? was Joe B fat?

as a UT fan, i don't have any opposing coaches that I might call such.

Joe B has put on a little bit of weight, but I think we both know that I´m referring to Adolph. That´s Rupp, not the other one.
