Time to roll up the sleeves. Press Conference, Call all names on the recruiting board, call Tee Martin, and get some sleep. That should be the Jones agenda.

And Welcome to the SEC and the south! From looking at your resume, you have never been here--well, except the time CDD beat you in one of the only bright spots in his tenure. Hope things work out.

Jones, thanks for taking this position when everyone else used UT to just get a raise! Expectations are set roof high but the current baseline is way low and you can easily show progress!

Thanks for being a VOL. ALl the best!

like it or not he's our coach. Doubtful Jones will ever surf this site, but if he does, Coach Jones, understand this:

The fans want a team that at least competes for the SEC east title every year, anything beyond that (BCS bowl game, SEC championship, etc.) is gravy for now, expected in a few short years.

There is nothing like playing in front of the Vol nation at Neyland... esp. if you're winning.

Speaking of winning - you have to win 2 out of 3 against FL, GA and Bama.

What the trustees want is a healthy bottom line. you can justify your hire by selling tickets and filling seats. just win and everything else will take care of itself.

we will give you a chance to be successful... we are desperate to win again, and I hope you find that there is no better place to live for your family than Knoxville.

We will not compare you to Mike Shula or Derek Dooley because those guys weren't made for head coaching at all. You have at least had some success.

Good luck, and go vols.

He's now our coach,,, either get on the train or off! It's embarrassing to see the negavol posts over and over,, I'm curious how many other rival fans post on this site to get the ball rolling for recruits to read,, don't take the bait,,

Good Luck to Coach Butch Jones! It was stupid that he was behind Gundy and Strong on the list. The players will love this guy. I just hope the recruits will as well. Not sure how much of our old staff will be retained.
I think Chaney would be a good HC for Cincy.

Let's get behind him, this is why people think we are the most irrational fan base in the nation, a lot of people look over the facts...Everyone said Brian Kelly was not good enough for us, Kevin Sumlin wasn't on our radar and what was Fulmer's record when he took over as coach. Dooley in 6 years is 28-41 as a head coach, Jones in 6 years is 50-27, lets give him a chance...

I'm on the fence here, love the Vols and always will.I will support Jones until I have reason not too, same as I did with Dooley. But I still don't see him recruiting top talent, maybe in a year or two providing he wins some signature games.GBO !

good stuff gardners...let's get behind him volnation and quit whining. Granted that Big East is not SEC but guy's a winner. He didn't have a losing record at a small school like LA Tech. Either way, he's our coach so lets' support him

I just left a site where so many comments were from making fun of UT to brutal to absolutely mean about this hire, and some of our fans were doing that. Hey can't please everybody. But at least give the man a chance. He might not be a home run hire, but only time will tell. Some cried because the search was taking too long, now the search is over and they're crying all wrong. Beginning September 2013 is where the rubber meets the road. With that said, if we do end up with another coaching vacancy, the next coaching search should begin with an AD search first. Just my opinion. GO VOLS!!!!!!! :cheer:

I am very much embarrassed by our fanbase. Once they sober up, they will realize that the guy ain't the bottom of the barrel. The fans will get behind him once the see the players tweets after he meets them. Trust me.

Coach pay no attention to the haters on this board. We have some that hate the the coaches, players and fans. Many trolls on this board that hate Tenn. You will soon see who are Tenn fans.

The one thing is not to put so much pressure on him to come in here and make miracles happen in his first year. He's got to come in and see what he has to work with then go forward player and coach-wise. This is a two-way operation--it's going to take the players and the coaches working "together" to win games. More so a coach who believes in his players. From what I've see, he does that.

Was I excited when I heard the news that Butch Jones was going to be the head coach of the Vols? No, not at all.

But that was because I don't really know much about the guy. I know he was the coach at Cinci. He was at Central Michigan before that. From what I hear, he basically has followed the same path as Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.

While Butch Jones was not my first choice, or even on my radar in the coaching search, it doesn't mean he is a bad hire. From what I am learning about the guy, he is a winner and he is a good motivator. Two attributes that the last head coach was lacking. While Jones has the chance to flop, he also has the chance to succeed as the Vols head coach.

We need to stand behind this guy and show some support. He is no longer the Butch Jones of Cinci, he is now the coach of the Vols. The team we all love and support. Butch Jones is now one of us. He is a Vol.

I wish the guy the best of luck and I look forward to seeing the press conference today.
