Look Ras, I owe you an apology on a public forum. I'm sorry I didn't see what the PP was doing. I thought it was a joke sort of thing. But now I see there were lots and honestly one may have been overlooked but several, that's just hate and I'm sorry I took the position I did.

As for this video, just horrible. Sickening.

In every walk of life, when people are in positions of power, there will be a few who will abuse that power. From priests, to presidents, to police officers. Unfortunately the old maxim is often true, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I've had my differences with you and some of your opinions but I'm behind you 100% on this one.

The one guy closest to the camera is covering his head while they beat on him but they keep beating on him to get him to put his hands behind his back. Hard to imagine there is any justification for this scene.

But this would have been okay, if those guys had been suspected terrorists, right?

I guess when police observe criminals shooting people and catch them in a car chase they should restrain from commencing on a beat down.

What is the whole story behind the beating? I'm going to guess that he wasn't pulled over for failing to signal prior to a lane change.

Ramsey said Wednesday that although it's not an excuse, the officers were stressed and emotions were running high in the department after the weekend killing of a fellow officer.

I am in no way excuing their behavior but when it comes down to it, the police officers are the ones that will be going home at the end of the night.

There is an old saying, I would rather be tried by 12 than carried out by six.

Amen. Cops have a lousy job, when it comes to the people they deal with, and especially those they need to deal with on a regular basis. And Philly isn't exactly Mayberry, as far as the decency of the population goes.

I would have just shot him dead. Beating was probably more satisfying though.

Naturally, we'll here what Al and Jesse and the rest have to say shortly.

IMO the number of deaths in the line of duty are lower then you might think.

When I worked for the TDOT in the summer during college, they told me there was more TDOT job related deaths then police officer deaths every year. (TDOT employees being killed by cars on the road.)

I'd like to think that you walked off at that point since either drivers or TDOT people are stupid (or both).

Maybe in a city Nashville or Knoxville size. Places like Philly have very high crime and murder rates. The percentage of officers killed is very low but many are still wounded or killed every year.
