Well, at least we haven’t peaked too early!

Is it possible we already have?

The back-to-back 100-point games vaulted Tennessee to, what, #3 in KenPom? That was the highwater mark of the season. It's very plausible that the Vols leverage the talent on this roster to string together some nice wins (I'm still expecting a trip to the Sweet Sixteen at minimum) in March, but I doubt that the team will be clicking quite as well as they did in December.

I have them in the SS as best case scenario, but today's loss has me feeling pessimistic

This team is more affected by the absence of one player than most any UT team I’ve seen. Doesn’t seem to matter who is out, if one of the top 8 doesn’t play it’s hard for this team to win.

Good point. And many thought this team was 10 deep. Just seems like this team doesn’t get. And the defense is not as stifling as it once was. I don’t care what anyone says. This team was in your face on every possession earlier in the season.

Maybe they have hit a wall or better competition vs in Dec -early Jan?

They’re trying, just can’t seem to sustain any momentum. I’m going to reserve judgment until I see what they do in the NCAAT. Only then will we have sufficient evidence.

Barnes must be scratching is head with this group. We can look great one game and look pathetic the next. On the floor leadership is lacking clearly.

If you take a true assessment of the team it is not hard to see the ceiling, floor, potential and limitations. We are not getting much out of the post the rest of the year. We better hope for an infusion of talent next year but getting worse play from the post is hard to fathom but clearly it's always possible.

I missed the game today, had to work but we just can not play consistently and it is so frustrating. We better not sleep on Vandy they are playing a lot better of late. What is the word on JJJ's injury?

Unlike Barnes teams of the past we haven’t seen consistent improvement from individual players. Obviously with COVID-19 just an atypical year. Our depth has been lacking and too many returning players have not improved at all. Our best returning player has regressed. We have some players who may be questionable SEC players at this point, and perhaps ever, including Anoskie, Gaines, Plavsic and Pember. Anoskie has been a disappointment.

I almost wish they would have thrown Springer and Johnson into the lineup and given them both more minutes from the onset of the season. 17 games into the season and it became, out of necessity, their team. May not have made a difference.

We peaked at #6 after the Missouri game. Go back and watch how the team was playing then. It’s like night and day.

We are wasting a year with 2 first round draft picks on our roster, and pons being a likely 2bd rounder
What’s ironic is it looks like they’re being asked to do too much/not being given any help. They’re in the game and everyone is looking to them to do something. Even though we have years of experience among everyone else.

See that’s my counterpoint when people say “Duke, UK, Kansas, Michigan State are struggling too”. For us it isn’t the freshman who are struggling (most nights), it’s not the players you think would struggle with there being limited meetings and practices. No, for us it’s been the disappointment of the veterans. Why are the players who have been here for years in the Barnes system system inconsistent and lost offensively?
