the Steelers:
Not terrible.....have no real problem with the LB Timmons in the 1st round......definitely had a need there. the pick that did confuse me a little was the TE from Minnesota.......his size is awesome...6-7 or so......but the position is not a need.......overall, pretty ho hum, nothing to get excited about, nothing to worry about either.

the Panthers:
Overall, i think they did pretty well. I was glad to see them trade down out of that 14 spot......worked out pretty well. i will admit the LB from Miami in the 1st round was a bit of a surprise, but it was a need.....i liked both 2nd round picks....the C Ryan Kalil from USC and DJ from USC.....both could be quality contributors. the rest of the draft not bad, maybe they got a steal with Charles Johnson as late as they did.......only things they didn't address was the TE and Safety, both still a need.

so, i think both teams did pretty good, the panthers probably a little better than the Steelers, but not too shabby.

the redskins got a solid pick with Landry. But of course, the redskins always trade all their picks away for overpriced washed up older than dirt veterans so that's about all i'll say

i thought the browns, cough, cough, actually did pretty well. they filled needs and got two guys that they obviously wanted......their round 1 was really good.

Limas Sweed, Mario Urrutia or Monk. Underclassmen eligible would be DeSean Jackson and Mario Manningham. Just a quick 5 off the top of my head

yeah......but in this case, and the lions were predisposed for some criticsim here given their history with WR's, i'd of been hard pressed to pass on this guy......

the one that got me was the phins taking TGjr at 9.........????

The Dolphins traded away Wes Welker. Ginn is head and shoulders above Wes Welker. They better hope Beck has twice the career Quinn does however.

that may be true..........my issue is that he got picked at 9.........no body, and i mean no body saw TG as a top 10 pick.........i don't particularly care about the phins one way or hte other, but they paid too much for someone as a top 10 pick that would have probably been around at the end of the 1st round.......

Had Ginn not sprained his foot, he would have been mentioned as a top ten pick and nobody would question the Dolphins.

but he did, and he wasn't.......and there were some other questions about his overall ability as a wide out to boot. at this point in the process, he had bee looked at nothing more than PR specialist......not an every down, #1 WR in the NFL.......and to pick him at 9 was odd, at the very least.

Every GM is trying to find the next Devin Hester. He started a trend that will end when/if Ginn and Figurs bust in the NFL.

Yamon Figurs was a Kansas State WR that ran a 4.3 forty at the combine and got drafted in the 3rd round on that alone

again, i don't disagree with why you'd want him on your team.........i question why you pick him at 9.

they paid too much.

This was kind of a strange year for the draft. No team did outstanding, but there weren't any terrible performances, either.

The Raiders did pretty well for themselves and the fact that the Chargers got Brandon Siler in the 7th speaks for itself.

The Broncos did good too, if Marcus Thomas stays out of trouble.
