And for once, the Volunteers have post-bowl momentum.

:finger:

FLORIDA?! :bs:

I mean, I could see why they'd be top 25, but NUMBER TWO?!?!?!?!

And saying that we're going to be hurt by recruiting losses is about the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

Well, they have to say something in the why not section. We lost 2 key players in our OL in Munoz and Respert, but our OL played well without Munoz and if if McNeil is a quick learner, this won't be too much of a problem.

We lose Houston and Davis, but I think that Riggs will have a wonderful year in 2005 after that Auburn game and an overall good year. Not to mention, I like how Yancey looked in the Cotton. Let's not forget about Cory Anderson, while a FB, this kid is going to be a major part of our offense. Plus we have some young horses in the stable that we haven't seen yet.

Defense we lose Burnett, but return Simon, Gaither, Both Mitchell's, Poe and Brookes. We lose Neal on the line, but I think Bolden will step into that position well.

We lose some great players, but we have more than enough to step up and never miss a beat. Go Vols.

Oh, and as for Florida being #2........ :dlol: I will believe that when I see it!

This is typical ESPN
Check the same link again and look at rankings:

and we thought John Kerry was wishy-washy

They actually did everybody a favor putting Florida where they did. You only have to read down to #2 before you realize it's an idiotic poll.

Three straight 5 loss seasons and undergoing a coaching change . . . #2 is only about 20 spots off.

OU at 5 seems a bit much too. Didn't they say last night that OU was 16 starters? How do they figure that OU will 5? On Peterson alone? While not being the easiest thing to do, it is still simple to focus on and shut down the run if that is all they have.

WOW...an hour ago they had Florida #2 now they have them #8 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Did someone drop the crack pipe? :p

:dlol: That is still too high if you ask me. Maybe they are reading our posts. UF should be #117.... ;)

heck i'm pretty happy with a 6 ranking...as for florida, I guess they changed it and made texas number 2, since when has texas been able to win a big game or beat ou in dallas at the cotton bowl?

Florida is always overrated...ESPN likes them so they always give them an excellent ranking....#6 is about right for us....We're gonna be awesome next year

We're going to be good, but the schedule is absolutely brutal.

You are so right. Besides to finish sixth, UT will need to be 13 - 0 :p

ESPN is working on a new love affair with Urban Myer. Screw :espn: and screw UF. Go Vols. Get ready for '05 and lets go drain the swamp, again.

What an idiot.

Example: he lists "receiver" as an area of significant losses. . . . ummm. . . .we're returning Meachem, Hannon, Swain, Fayton, Smith, (shall I go on). . . . to the tune of over 75% (2095 of 2775) of our receiving yards from last year. Almost half of those we'll be missing will be due to Houston's loss. Did I miss something.

Oh, and nice to see that Miami will again start overrated so that only back-to-back losses to unranked teams will threaten its top-10 status.

I'm surprised this genious doesn't have South Carolina winning it all. :moon2:

A really good defense will help us win those tough road games. I think that we might have one.

We play better on the road anyway. Check our record on the road, UGA,the U, Bama, ND, are just a few BIG road wins. Look for more next year.

We also play better as underdogs as well....Almost every time we're underdogs...with the exception of a couple of games we win...I'd rather be dogs any day than favorites

wouldnt this be a good time to remind AD hamilton that strength of schedule is a no longer catagory????

Neal was a DE and Bolden will play DT at UT. The one that will step in for Neal will be McBride.
As for RB - Riggs better have a good off season and stay on his toes, Foster is the real deal and it'll be a dog fight to see who the starter is. One more thing Trooper really really likes Foster.
Marvin Mitchell will really have to work to be eligible next fall.

UF got #2 because the writer didn't do his homework since he had Faison returning, and they are giving Meyer more credit than he deserves.

Both Corse and Herbstreit had #1 USC #2 Ohio State and #3 Texas

They differed on#4 and #5, can't remember Herbstreits but Corse had @4 Florida and #5 Michigan.

OSU is having too much internal strife to be that high plus Iowa is loaded and so is Michigan.

If OSU survives this summer without probation or anything, they're a NC contender.

That reminds me... Let's take a look at national title contenders.

My personal vote for who will be the strongest next year is...

USC, Texas, Ohio State, Iowa, Tennessee, and I'll give Virginia Tech an outside shot.

once again espn says something STUPID :bash:
we only lose 2 starters on the offensive line-munoz & respert..and munoz was hurt alot this year..
we are loaded in wr and riggs is back along w/cory anderson..
only lose 2 defensive starters(as long as Allen stays)

someone show espn the real football is below the mason dixon line..
