DVH isn't retiring any soon, and this is big nothing. It was really exciting to see the fire and the chip in the heat of the moment, bit DV is Vitello's mentor so there isn't bad blood there.

White was an associate AD at Ole Miss when it was fundraising for its current baseball stadium. I think he also was an AD at a school that went all the way to Omaha for the CWS one year (I don’t remember the name of the school off the top of my head).

I think he has more college baseball experience than realized and knows just how important it is to keep CV and upgrade LNS.

Our Vol media types focus on this kind of stuff rather than the game itself, because..............it's not football. It's out of their wheelhouse. Some of them don't even know the right questions to ask, so it's about oneupmanship, any subtle chirping or dugout chatter. You know. The kind of thing baseball people don't give a second thought about.

I hope you’re right. They need a real long term plan for a baseball stadium. They should have never have sunk that money into LNS and invested in a new one years ago. It’s terribly Land locked

I don't trust White either, tbh. It's a small sample size, but in the time he has been here he has consistently talked down to the fanbase, and he has done nothing to earn our trust. We had a close-lipped football coaching search, only to come away with the guy from the school he came away from.

And to clarify, I am not down on Heupel. I am very much giving him a chance, just like any other coach that comes to Tennessee. But, DW is now one of the highest-paid ADs in all of college athletics, and the behind-the-scenes "rumors" about conversations between him and TV and the stadium renovations sound less than ideal; however, as we all know internet rumors are just internet rumors, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt till the end of the season.

Keep TV, and I'll trust DW for the rest of his tenure here. Let TV walk, and I'm probably out on DW and UT athletics.

Yesterday's little scuffle between TV and DVH just made me want TV all the more. I don't even play for the guy and I would run through a brick wall for him. We've heard the same from our players. Can anyone remember the last time we've had a coach like that on our campus? It's been quite some time. Do what you gotta do and renovate LNS. That's all TV wants. He wants a nicer stadium. GIVE. IT. TO. HIM.

The brick wall thing is so true. To see him walk off the field Saturday by himself, after the team meeting in the OF, and getting a standing ovation from roughly 3k people still hanging around was a sight to behold. I think most of us can say without reservation, he’s the most beloved coach this school has had since Pearl. I don’t want to compare his character to Pearl and I’m not a Pearl apologist by any stretch (I never actually cared for him but enjoyed the product) but they strike me as very similar with the chip on their shoulder, grinder attitude and I think TV can do for baseball what Pearl did for basketball in terms of generating fan interest, generating the monies necessary to upgrade facilities and being able to compete with anyone in this league despite a lack of history or past commitment to the sport. We’re a somewhat fickle fanbase when it comes to sports outside of football but we’ve also proven that we can be one of the best fanbases and environments in those sports too.
