When Gainesville, Ga. defensive end Keith Wells de-committed from Florida State recently, several of college football's elite programs came calling for the talented prospect in a hurry. Tennessee was among those to try to get in the door, and turned Wells head enough to get him an official visit this weekend, and Wells came away from the visit all smiles.

HV, anything?

I believe Wells has declared Tennessee one of his final two teams. And he hasn't announced the other team...don't know why. I think it's Miami.

other team is Ohio State Univ. he will make the decision sometime next week. He was visited by Coach Tressel last night and hopefully we will still still get to sway his mind......

This sounds somewhat promising, kid is gonna have to put on some weight to play DE in the SEC but with his 6' 5 frame that shouldn't be too big a problem....would be a good land at a needed position.

Wells and Thompson are the two biggest "gets" needed in this class. The DL is treacherous and we can not go next year with a lack of pass rush

Wells is a true "potential" guy. He blew it up in the combines, but hasn't played for a long time. OSU seems to think they are a lock, alot like Ben Martin and Rico McCoy. He said his visit to UT was his best of all and was blown away. Would be a nice land, but likely won't see a whole lot of production from him for a year or two at least.

Prolly because they had Maurice Wells and have Chris Wells. The only other highly rated Wells went to Texas last year.

He recently said distance would play somewhat of a factor and he favored the SEC to any other conference. Sounds encouraging.

he's visiting notre dame. we'll see how he likes those negative temperatures. i think he's ours with him talking about how he likes the SEC and that distance has somewhat of a factor in his decision

Members of the Tennessee coaching staff have been at Gainesville High School since 8 AM today. Phil Fulmer is there now, and arrived early this afternoon, around 2 PM. -- Rivals
