Wow. By a pretty substantial margin, too.

I grew up in a dry county (it tries to get passed but religion shoots it down on every election sadly), not sure how many in TN are dry. But at 1.30 a gallon for tax, I can't imagine how much money cities, counties, and the state could make if we were just a drinking state all over. Considering the level of alcohol I know people do still get in my town, and my assumption is its like that everywhere else, it could turn some of these super poor counties into only moderately poor at least, if not more.

What I don't understand is the counties that only allow beer.

Imagine if Wisconsin had Tennessee alcohol tax... They have nothing to do than drink up there.

or like Grainger County, can't buy it on Sundays, don't they realize that beer drinkers are driving a lot farther to buy it ? and missing out on tax money

so that is more drinking and driving right ? back years ago,my first driving experience with out an adult,my dad gave me the keys to a 68 Plymouth Fury 1,an ex Virginia police cruiser, along with a couple of bucks,my my that car would freaking fly lol

and told me and my friend to go to Bristol and buy him some beer,we lived in Kingsport then, needless to say,I said sure dad :) I know that a lot of beer drinkers made the same long drive, every Sunday

and yes I bought beer at age 16 with out ever being carded, actually I have bought beer since i was age 14,with out being carded, the guy at one beer store that my dad all ways went to actually carded me the day I turned 18

he just looked at it and didn't say nothing,we called the place Sams after the owner,i forget the name of the place, might have been City Grocery or something like that,it was right across from the police station :)

I guess it offends the church goers to be able to buy alcohol on a Sunday, but they like the tax revenue the other 6 days of the week,I'm not sure if it is the same now, they did start selling beer on Sundays in Sullivan County years ago,but you had to wait till church was over and you can't buy likker on Sundays or on holidays, isn't the holiday restriction a state wide thing still ? or buying likker on a Sunday ?

when I first went on grave yard shift full time,I stopped to buy a 6 pack right after 7am and was told I had to wait till 8,this homeless guy that had the shakes was standing beside me,saying I know what you are going thru,I don't know why,but all my adult life, the pot heads and drunks like to talk to me for no reason :)

and I don't know why it is illegal to make your own likker,as long as it isn't for sale, the government should keep there noses out

I would love to have a small still set up,something that would cook up just a thousand gallons or so and a huge pile of Mason jars lol

Living in Grainger County was your first mistake.
