but not exactly exciting. I'm perfectly fine with that, if we're getting W's. I like this style of offense so much more than Pearl's, and I didn't think I'd ever say that. I was against the Martin hire, because so many of us (Including I) thought we'd never be the same because we lost pearl. He has these guys playing fundamental basketball, working hard, and has a rising star in Trae Golden. We really need to work on FT's and 3's and Maymon taking too many shots when he's not a high % guy. We're far from perfect, but we're not a team anybody "wants" to play. We're going to make the tournament this year, and build from there. Go Vols, and go CCM.

Im agreeing with this. Shocking that a UK fan would support UT...

but im impressed with the vols. They're pretty good.

Exactly what I was thinking. The team looks more disciplined out there, which is refreshing!

UT outplayed Duke in the 1st half. Clearly. Too bad Duke is just a much more disciplined team. Talent gets negated at times when you work as hard as they did during parts of the game.

Good defense and excellent free throw shooting. Offense should come together as the year goes on. Gonna be some growing pains, of course, but should be fun to watch.

Good news!!!!! This team can actually shoot free throws.... At one point, we were 9 for 9. Now, when the game is on the line, I won't cringe when we go to the free throw line.

Free throws looked really good tonight. Maymon has made a mass improvement

I count 13 winnable games for us. Where do you get enough wins to get us in the NCAA? 18 wins will put us in an iffy situation but 20 wins will likely get us in, if Strength of Schedule is considered.

i just wished jordan mcrae could play up to his potential. man, this dude could really help this team, if he would quit with the clown shots !! i like him, but----man he pisses me off !!!

I count 16-18 winnable games. Lets say that UT beats Vandy and UK once each...Should be NCAA.

But, we'll see.

I dont think we will make the tournament because our schedule is too tough but hey the NIT I think we can make it to New York!

Dont start just yet. A few wins can easily change it. UT should be a very good bubble team. Its all gonna depend on the Vandy, UK, and Bama games IMO.

They may be better than expected, but i need to see more before i'll get all excited. I'm not sure that was a great Duke team they just played. They looked well coached, not the most athletic team i've seen at Duke though.

I just dont see it. I am not ashamed Martin definitely has the boys overachieving.

McCrae has a similar game to Jamal Crawford. Can get hot and can't miss, but takes very questionable shots. Hopefully he can develop into the scorer that Crawford is.

He really needs to focus on making the shot when he is expecting contact at the rim, rather than just looking for the foul.

I keep comparing him to J.R. Smith for the same reason. Freakishly athletic, has an outside shot when he doesn't play out of his ass, but when he gets hot he can and will hit anything.


However, I'm still holding to my belief that Maymon was a bad free throw shooter last year simply based on a small sample size. You cannot change your form so drastically in a summer, I mean we're talking a 35% improvement roughly. that doesn't happen that fast. Which is more believeable. He was a good free throw shooter who hit a bad stretch of only 25 free throws or so, or he gained a third of his percentage in one summer?

What? This is exactly why UT has a shot at getting in the tournament.

It was why we got in last season. We were inconsistent as HE!! last year, but we got a couple high quality wins on the road while playing the toughest schedule in the country and that carried us all year.
