Were you surprised?

you know i was watching that game on Sat., and only one thing came to mind.....it's just not TN's day. And it defintely was Bama's day.

They shot 76% in the first half!!! they scored 51 pts in the 1st half!! they hit 6-7 3's in the first half!!

Prior to that game, they had been shooting i believe in the 40% range.
Prior to that game, they had been averaging 5 3's per GAME, much less a half.
Prior to that game, their previous high score in the 1st half was in the mid 30's.

I think there was a bit of luck playing out in that game...some good luck in the 1st half for Bama, and some lousy luck for TN. We were cold in the 1st half, and couldn't get hot enough in the 2nd. they did a good job of not allowing Lofton to get free. We missed free throws at inopportune times all game long.....

And yeah, it sucks, but i'll ask this....when would you rather have that kind of game? Now or in post season play?

I for one hope they got it out of their system. We got killed inside. And that's probably a good thing. Everyone knew it was a weakness, but up until now, it hasn't gotten us beat. they'll learn from it and hopefully get better.

19-4, 10-2 in the SEC is still enough for tops in the league mind you....besides, we got another road trip coming up.....that should prove to be a much tougher game.

Go Vols.

I agree with the previous post, Ala. played a perfect 1st half. We will see Ala. again in the tournament and we will see how they play on a neutral court. I don't believe it will be the same. Looking forward to it.

Bama was flying high because they knew they had no choice if they wanted to keep tourney hopes alive. They wanted it, and they played that way.
That being said...
A good coach does his best teaching following a loss such as Saturday.
Look for a focused, executing team Wednesday night.

GO VOLS!!

Was I surprised? Yes..but in retrospect this sort of thing happens. And if you keep up with it, it happens pretty often in NCAA roundball. In fact, about every week to somebody. Every so often an inferior team like the Tide hits on all cylinders for one game and catches a better opponent playing flat. Dook got drilled by Georgetown which I rate as a bigger upset than 'Bama beating UT. But I really thought the Vols had a good chance to run the table the rest of the way. Would have loved to have seen it happen but........
