It was actually in reference to Pearl's suspension but he said that a fellow beat writer told him that Pearl is in a class of the likes of Saban and Myer. Meaning that players sense they have a decided advantage on the sideline that creates a confidence in their game. The conversation then turned to can a coach lose that image amongst their players and has that happened to Urban Myer during the last two dismantling defeats against Saban and is it possible Saban's image took a shot in his players' eyes this past Saturday.

An interesting topic and I have never thought of it in this context but I don't think Fulmer was ever looked at the same after the 2001 SECCG.

I'll wait to see if Saban's lost it.

The rest are all valid points.

Saban doesn't lose anything.

No one prepares a team in college football better than him. The mental game is decidedly advantageous toward Alabama.

I agree- in the 90s he (his teams) was looked at as absolutely dominant (outside of the Florida games). That '01 team was loaded with talent, and they played pretty darn well.
But after that, I was never confident that having CPF on the sideline was an advantage (outside of the outstanding athletes he brought in)...
