Nothing changes with Rucker though. He's still the beat writer mold. Not sure who they'll have doing the recruiting stuff.

Hubbs and staff may want to consider the jump IMO - 247 is about to be a really solid site.

I've noticed everyone saying it's going to be a solid site. I ventured over there and there isn't much to see right now. It definitely looks like it's still under construction...

Here is a post of what he said in regards to the move on Facebook.

Details being worked out. The social networking will stay the same, though, at least as far as posting. I might not be able to answer as many questions — supposed to be for the board — but maybe I will. It'll be a great deal if you don't pay, and a ridiculously great deal if you do. Plus, when you pay for one of us, you pay for all of us on the network. I've seen the plans, and 247 will revolutionize the game, I assure you. That's why I said yes.

Sounds tempting to look into at least.....

Yeah it does sound tempting for sure. Sounds like they are going after the best, young beat writers around.

247sports is trying something different, and it may change the game in the near future, especially in recruiting.

247 is done by the guys that initially founded the Rivals network. Rivals and Scout have grown so popular because they've become fan sites that will write stories with a slant based on increasing readership by becoming admitted cheerleaders for the schools they cover. 247 is going back to the original Rivals model, which used the same journalistic standards that traditional media follow.

Here's why that's a gamechanger: There is serious concern with the NCAA that operators of these sites are being or can be used to help influence prospects toward certain schools. Obviously, the NCAA forbids boosters from contacting recruits. There is concern among schools that the people that run these sites are boosters. In some cases, it's already true. There are operators and writers for sites that are donors and season ticket holders for schools that they cover. That meets the very definition of booster from the NCAA.

There has always been an exception for the media, as they are perceived as being neutral observers gathering information. But with these fans sites, the line is being blurred quite a bit. There are writers for sites all around the country that are acting as recruiters, not just journalists.

There are rumblings that the NCAA is going to do something about this in the near future. If operators or writers of sites are boosters, they'll have to disclose that and won't be allowed to contact recruits. 247 is ahead of this curve and is only hiring serious journalists that respect the same journalistic standards as traditional media. If they do this and have a structure set up, they will be in a VERY strong position if and when the Scout and Rivals networks take a big (though probably temporary) hit from potential NCAA legislation.
