The catalyst for all this seems to have been from West Virginia beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl a couple years back. If anybody remembers that game, Georgia was clearly not playing the first half... WVU jumped out to an insurmountable lead, but when you watched the two teams play in the second half, you could clearly see that Georgia was physically on a different level.
As for their play against the ACC... Well, Miami is still sliding, and Florida State's offense is beyond godawful. Wake freakin' Forest won the ACC.
I can't say the Big East hasn't improved over the last couple years, but I also see a lot of smoke and mirrors in play with that. Not to mention the fact that the Big East performing well is good for ESPN. Basically, WVU sneaks in a BCS win over the SEC champs, then every time they beat WVU, it's considered a major win. Even though none of them have any real significant wins over the last couple years.
