Program History
- 1 NCAA Tournament (95-96)
- 3 Conference Division Titles (96, 09, 11)
- 1 Conference Tournament Title (1996)
- WCU is 2-35 against the SEC (wins against UT and Ark)
- In WCU's only NCAA tournament, the 16 seeded Catamounts missed a three pointer at the end of the game in a potential upset of #1 seed Purdue.
- Coach Larry Hunter, the 17th coach all time for the Catamounts, moved into the top 40 of all time wins in men's basketball in 2011.
- Ronnie Carr, WCU standout, made the first ever college basketball 3 point shot on Nov. 29th, 1980 against Middle Tennessee State. The ball used during the game is on display at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. (During this era in college basketball, the Southern Conference was the only league sanctioned by the NCAA to use the 3-point line)
- Dikembe Mutombo's nephew, Harouna Mutombo, played for WCU from 2007 - 2012
- WCU has had 9 players drafted in the NBA and ABA
(Most recently, Kevin Martin in 2005)

Against Tennessee
1-6 (1-6 in Knoxville)
- Tennessee has won the last 3 matchups with the only loss coming in 1993 (78-71)
- Tennessee last defeated WCU on 12/23/02 by the score of 79-61

Interesting to Note
- They average 72 points a game while UT hasn't allowed a team to score 70 in a game.
- Tom Tankelewicz has been hot as of late. In the last two games, he's went for 19 and 24 points, including 6 three's against Georgetown. He's 1st in the Southern Conference and 14th in the nation with 3.3 3's a game.
- WCU's defense limits teams to shoot 30% from the arc, including a top three point shooting team in Illinois to a season low of 29.2%.

Something else, Trey Sumler is the teams leads the team in scoring but isn't projected to start? Is he hurt or does he just come off the bench? Odd that someone that averages close to 30 minutes a game and leads the team in scoring would come off the bench.

The Catamounts can fill it up. Not a great defensize squad at all though.

I bet CCM lets the Vols run today, possessions in the 70s, score in the 70s.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'd love to see the offense open up some during a game like this and really push the tempo.

Watched the vols report and iicr they said he comes off the bench. Will be interesting to see what happens tho.

Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I didn't understand why your best scoring option and someone that logs major minutes like that don't start. Figured he might be hurt or something but couldn't find any press releases or anything on it.

Probably just a spark plug off the bench may prefer it really. Could be the same like when OKC brought Harden off the bench.

Sumler is starting.

Whoever draws him better stay on him, almost 45% from 3.
