for Tennessee basketball.

The recruiting is setting up nicely. In case you haven't noticed, UT is in the top four for three top 50 in state prospects, and are on on plenty more good/solid players.

Getting a couple top 50 players, and being a top 25 team throughout the year would do wonders for the program.

Never would have thought we would be saying this now when CCM was hired, tip of the hat to him.

If he can recruit like I think he will, I think he can take the basketball program to new heights...I really do.

The man is driven. Period. He's going to do great things at UT.

This. He doesn't take no for an answer I have a feeling. Many though we were out for jw3 and king, but he's stayed in contact, probably shown them a different side and now is back in the game for them.

Were in position nicely, now let's close the deal.

BTO, I am literally shocked we are in King's top four. That literally is crazy.

I'm starting to think kids can't say no to him. Remember, Jarnell had eliminated UT too.

After he released his top 6 about a month or 2 ago I gave up hope, because we weren't in it. Now this...

I'm just hoping we dont get a hey CCMs a great guy but im taking my talents to...from all these guys, that'll sting.

Gotta close the door on atleast 1 if not 2 of the memphis guys IMO...king, jw3, hubbs, Nichols and Crawford.

I was done. You said over, most people said over, so I thought, okay, it's over.

I don't think so. There's something about Cuonzo. You usually say this about player, but Martin has that it factor.

Agreed.

I'm optimistic, but to apply equal standards to Martin as I do to Dooley, he has to actually deliver on the recruits. How many times have we heard things like "setting up nicely" and "in on some big name recruits" to end up with underwhelming results in football? Again, I'm pretty optimistic about Martin's recruiting ability, but I feel like it's wrong to get too excited yet.

edit: and yes, Stokes was a huge signing. But this class is going to be very important for Martin. It's important that he capitalizes on some of these guys.

I completely agree. He needs to close the deal, and in six-eight months we will figure out if he can. I like our one commit. Landry seems like a solid PG. I truly believe Nichols is a Vol lock. I'll be shocked if he goes anywhere else. And I think Hubbs is a Vol. It's not a lock, but I believe he's a Vol. That's a solid class in of itself, not too mention we are in the top five for a myriad of top 100 prospects.

As I said in my thread from a while ago, I really think the next ~9 months are going to be crucial for Martin. Both on the court and recruiting. I have no doubt that he's giving it his all, and if pays off, this next season can potentially set him up for greatness. I know it's only his 2nd year in a major program, but with our success last year and his apparent recruiting prowess, he has an enormous opportunity IMO.

I'm more excited about the direction of the basketball program than I am the football program

I'm more confident in the Bball team's future, but I'm about equally as excited. Coach Martin is a sure thing to have a very competitive team.

CM is a over-comer. He's a fighter. Life's lessons have taught him to never give up. Not all, but I say most kids would love to play for him. From what I've read and have seen, He is the real deal. Integrity? no problem. Honesty? Yes. He IMO has qualities that good men strive to have. He is a leader. Respect for him comes naturally. Tennessee basketball is on it's way up, and I'm thinking way up. God bless the Vols.

The biggest thing hell have to overcome is the negative recruitment from others saying he hadn't put anyone in the league. You know K will be mentioning that to hubbs and Nichols.

If CCM can put stokes and then a few others in the league, coupled with his attitude and mindset, I think well see very good classes from him consistently.

I have liked this hire since the beginning. Coach Zo has the background, understanding of the game, work ethic, and character to be extremely successful combined with the facilities, fan base, and SEC brand. The better players are going to be attracted and as he lands his share the performance of the team will rise to even higher levels.

I am an unashamed sunshine pumper for Coach Zo and staff.

I'm anxious about fball and excited about bball.
Too many pieces and not enough room for error to turn a fb program around in 3 or 4 years.
Bball on the other hand. Can't wait!!

I'm not a huge CFB guy, but I'm excited for football also, should he an exciting team and I hope they turn it around.

You can tell his players (actually, they aren't even his players. They are Pearl's players) love him. I thought his was so telling how three or four of them said "I would do anything for Coach Zo."
