What area(s) might be our undoing this season?

OL will have many good players, but will anyone emerge as great? DB unit is a question mark, but they will be helped tremendously by a legitimate pass rush. Will it be enough? That's it for me.

I think the defense takes a major step forward. The ceiling on this team is even higher than last year's team imo.

QB. Milton has had 1 good game (Clemson) in 2 years. Yes, he has a strong arm and can throw it a mile. But, he hasn’t shown that he can be an upper level SEC QB consistently. Most of his stats from last year were in mop-up duty.

DB - obvious.

OL/DL - lost some high level contributors.

I see our RBs as above average. They’re good and deeper. Sampson is electric and should get a lot of touches this year. Small and Wright are solid. Keith and Seldon should be able to get some work also. DBs should be improved with better depth now, more competition and returning starters that should be better or lose their starting job to newer, better talent. Milton needs to build on that Orange Bowl performance and not let this get too big for him. With the loss of McNeil, Terry and Byron Young on DL, we’re going to have to get some production out of a couple of freshmen again.

I’m really worried about 3rd downs.
He doesn’t run as well and admitted himself he just naturally throws hard as ****.. that’s not a good sign when we need a 3rd and short 2 ball and he doesn’t know how
if you don’t know what a 1,2 or 3 ball is please go learn football

QB: I’m still not all in on Milton. Not yet. I’ve said it in another thread, but I need to see it week in and week out before I’m totally all in. Going to Gainesville at night is going to tell me a lot.

Both Lines: We do have returning players on both lines, but we also lost our best pass protector and best pass rusher. We really need to start being able to get pressure w/ 4 sometimes and not blitzing linebackers and corners on 3rd downs that leave the middle of the field wide open.

Secondary: We need speed at safety. Period. We’ve had some great, game changing safeties over the years. It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had one. Someone needs to step up.

In addition, if we only need two, I’m worried he will either slide down or step out of bounds.

I have my worries with Milton, but kinda think he's going to be okay. I'm more worried about the defense.

Same here. Im worried about the swamp. That game will decide how the rest of the season goes. Is Milton the guy or are we going to have a QB controversy? We will know after that game - and I am not super confident. I recently rewatched the orange bowl. Our offense was completely average through 3 quarters, scoring just 21 points. That's not good enough.

If our defense improves by 20% this year we should have no trouble with anyone except Bama and Georgia. I believe Bama is beatable, and GA will have played such an easy schedule they could come in way overconfident. Overconfidence has killed a lot of teams when they realize they're having to fight for their lives.

Last year the games we struggled in it was rainy, sloppy fields which messed up our passing game. My thought would be bad weather affecting our downfield passing game.
