I hope Pittman, Hinshaw and Graham all get to stay. The new coach will have his own ideal for the offense and defense. But i really hope he keeps these three coaches. We have to hire a guy who is a head coach or has head coaching experence. Do not hire a guy who is a OC or DC now. This might be the most important hire UT has ever made. Good luck Dave Hart.

No one.Just lessened to an interesting conversation posted on Rivals between two gentlemen I didn’t get their names but they implied that Hart took the Tennessee job knowing that Dooley’s days were numbered. He also knew that Tennessee was in a deep hole financial will very little funds in reserve. He indicated there was less than 2 million after the renovations. They said Hart was aware that Tennessee was not recruiting or being coached on a level to be competitive in the SEC and that a lot of changes would have to be made to make Tennessee relevant in the SEC. They even talked about the style of uniforms. Hart is not using a search consultant and will be doing all the interviews and negotiations himself. Hart has also been to the Chancellor of the University and has been given the green light to spend what is needed to make Tennessee relevant again in the SEC. The University and the donors will provide the money. In simple terms get the best coach you can buy and re tool the program all the way down to the marketing and uniforms. If this is true then we are going to get back to having some pleasant Saturdays and Holiday travel plans.

:good!:

None will be retained. Some might be rehired by the new coach but it will not be forced on him to keep any of them.

My son talked to CJP today. I hate to see him go but he is a defensive coach. He is a good guy though. I like JG and Pittman to stay.

Graham and Mckeefery (S&C ) they both have string bonds with all the players and when a new staff comes in, it will be important to have some familiar faces for mental health of the players. Mckeefery has a special bond w players most people don't understand

Vols' JaWuan James on OL coach Sam Pittman: "We're gonna go try to talk to Dave Hart and whoever we need to talk to to keep him."

Thought that was a very interesting comment from James. I think Pittman and Graham should definitely be considered for the next staff

This new staff is going to need to have someone on the staff that has lived what dominant Tennessee football is all about...Jay Graham gives them this player/coach on the staff.

I'd keep Jay Graham and Pitman, get rid of the rest. JG is a solid coach and with sub par talent he turned Neal into a serviceable back and Pitman's O-line has been flat out great this year, possibly the best thing about this team.

If you land one of the really big name coaches, they want to bring their own staff. Just the way it normally works. Assistants make a lot of money but they have to move many many times over the course of a career

I would think the new guy might want 1 or 2 of the current staff for recruiting and continuity with the current players if they fit into his agenda.

GO VOLS!! BEAT KY!! I WILL BE THERE TO SUPPORT THESE PLAYERS!!

Usually a new coach keeps 1 coach to keep in contact w/ recruits while he forms his own staff or decides how many of his current assts want to move with him. Two is one to many for a new guy to keep.

I hope your right about Gruden. But i do not believe it until i watch the press conference saying he is our new Tennessee Vols football coach.

Well, I personally would love to see the new coach retain Graham, Pittman, and McKeefry. However if the new coach decides to bring in an entirely new staff, I'll support that as well. It's certainly his perogative.

The only one that I will be more than a little upset about would be Graham. Dude is a VFL and this is his home and he's done a great job. Gotta keep him in the family. Jmo.

Pittman and Graham have turned around what was one of the sorriest running games I ever saw from 2011. The unsung hero in this is Mckeefrey. Nobody on the staff spends as much time with the players as the S&C coaches do, and they are the reason we started winning the physical battle up front as much as anything. I would be thrilled if all 3 stay.:twocents:
