Dools was a finesse, no hair out of place guy. Butch seems like a scrappy street fighting kind of guy. In my opinion that's what the Volunteer football program needs. Amiright?

All I know so far is:

He gave credit to his former players for his success. That counts for something in my book.

He thinks he has what it takes to turn this program around. For his sake, I hope he does.

His teams have played above their expectations. That is HUGE in my opinion.

Excellent points. If we can get our guys to play with a chip on their shoulder each game we will win those games that we're not supposed to. I think Butch has an edge to him.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire or that Jones will be a flop, but Bielema is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why? To put it another way...With the previous hire, ARK got the head coack of the ATL Falcons while Tennessee got the coach from La Tech. With this hire, ARK got the coach from Wisconsin and Tenn, a school with a better tradition, a softer conference, and geographical superiority, got the coach from Cincinatti, after trying to land bigger names. Regardless of who we think Butch Jones may become, the truth remains...UT is being outsold by ARK.

You don't know much about football do you?

What have the Hawgs and Petrino or Bielema and Wisconsin won lately? As the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding. We'll find out how Bielema and Jones can make it in the SEC. We're freakin Tennessee, screw the Hogs. We will still stand up 100 grand strong in Neyland stadium (if the so called fans show up) and stand behind our beloved Volunteers until we kick some SEC ass again. It's coming boys, don't miss it.
