great idea. we should be taxed on our consumption, not on what we earn.

it'll never pass because even the GOP is in love with the power that taxation gives them.

I still have a hard time seeing how a fully regressive tax is a good thing. BPV tried to work on me, but I think that I'm too brainwashed to see it. I think that it is because when I think of a sales tax, the tax is effectively much higher for lower wage earners who spend all of their pay check than higher wage earners who do not. Of course, consumption eventually comes...and this is the linchpin I suppose...but I still haven't converted.

Sarcasm allvol..:p C'mon guys, our new Vice Pres. said it's the right thing for us rich folks to do.

I think that you may have missed his joke about not paying taxes being a prerequisite for a successful Treasury secretary...or perhaps you caught it. I thought it was a good piece of sarcasm followed up by a nice jab at Geithner.

Ha, took a rocket scientist to explain my post to you Robbins. That means I am brilliant! I'd make TT my Secretary of Post Explanations if I was Prez.

It's a position I would hold with honor....can I also be the arbiter of fairness?

.....BTW, I'm a rocket scientist? Sweet!.....

Sure, as long as you make me look like I know what I am doing. That is a tough job, you'll need a big salary.
