Perhaps someday historians will look back on the history of America and describe Obama's brief authority as they did in looking back on Musolini's fascist reign as a 'rude interrutption' of the progress of Italy's politics.

You don't like it when people dis your hero Barry do you Bopeepus??

I suppose you think of Sarah Palin the way the 'bundle of flaming tiwgs' editorial staff at the NY Slimes do??

This all serves as an easy example of why Senators make terrible Presidents. Executive experience demands a fundamentally different mindset than the constant impotence Obama brings to the job. Instead of action and responsible decision-making, Obama naturally turns to Congressional-staff crafted legislative solutions, commissions and committee-hearings — exactly the kind of approaches designed to insulate elected politicians from the ramifications of a vote or a decision. It’s the difference between a leader and a follower, between someone confident enough to make a decision and live with the consequences, and someone who wants to cover their ass, between an executive who says: “I decided” and a legislator who says: “They recommended.”

He could barely get himself through the pedestrian first half: a bit of BP-bashing, a bit of faux-Clintonian "I feel your pain," a bit of recovery and economic mitigation accounting.

It wasn't until the end of the speech — the let-no-crisis-go-to-waste part that tried to leverage the Gulf Coast devastation to advance his cap-and-trade climate-change agenda — that Obama warmed to his task.

Pedestrian is beneath Obama. Mr. Fix-It he is not. He is world-historical, the visionary, come to make the oceans recede and the planet heal.

How? By creating a glorious, new, clean green economy.

And how exactly to do that? From Washington, by presidential command and with tens of billions of dollars thrown around.

With the liberal (and professorial) conceit that scientific breakthroughs can be legislated into existence, Obama proposes to give us a new industrial economy.

But is this not what we've been trying to do for decades with ethanol, which remains a monumental boondoggle, economically unviable and environmentally damaging to boot?

As with yesterday's panacea, synfuels, into which Jimmy Carter poured billions.

Notice that Obama no longer talks about Spain, which until recently he repeatedly cited for its visionary subsidies of a blossoming new clean energy industry.

That's because Spain, now on the verge of bankruptcy, is pledged to reverse its disastrously bloated public spending, including radical cuts in subsidies to its uneconomical photovoltaic industry.

Soros, through his Soros Fund Management LLC, reported holding 36.8 million American depositary receipts of the Brazilian oil company known as Petrobras as of Dec. 31 - a holding valued at about $900 million at the time. Soros held 21.2 million ADRs at Sept. 30, according to his disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Palin may not be perfect but two things she ain't:

1. Totally incompetent.

2. A puppet of the George Soros cabal.

Al Gore has made billions too since he left office. You gonna give him the same credit for his "competency"?

What can you expect from the guy who invented the internet, his 'billions' are probably as invented as those of his communist agent mentor Armand Hammer.

If that were so then how did Barry win with that Moron Biden as vp??

I don't understand why you say Palin is an idiot, now if you said McLame was an idiot, I could easily understand.

Under the glorious new world order green ecology science, chicken salad can be made from chicken sh!t and there will be no shrimp tacos because the shrimp had to be sacrificed so that people could see the need for green energy.

Obama will not be happy until he bankrupts America totally. With about 12 countries offering to send ships to clean up the Gulf he won't allow it. He put a moratorium on oil drilling and is killing La.'s economy. When China calls in the notes forget learning spanish-learn Chinese.

I think that's up to 17 countries who have all offered help.

I can't imagine why Obama would turn that down.

Yeah, don't worrry about learning Spanish, human trafficers and drug smugglers have decided to join San Fransissyco and boycott Arizona.

It wouldn't have mattered who McCain chose, it was the fact that McCain was the nominee that guaranteed Obama the win. Adding Palin made the final results competitive, had McCain chosen someone like Lieberman, he wouldn't have received more than 40% of the popular vote and the electoral count would have been even more lopsided.
