to finish out the season strongly? EVERYONE was disappointed in the USC loss. So I thought I would get the opinion of all the followers of UT basketball to see what people think needs to change. I personally would like to see an big overall increase in the amount of hustle from the team. In my opinion, we've been flat the past few games. Even the wins. Your thoughts?

More effort from basically everyone
Consistency would be good.
Better decisions in terms of taking shots

We need to find our identity.

Bruce Pearl has never really been best as a half-court coach. We need a break-down PG. We need a 3-pt option. We need to ban anyone over 6'7" (not named Hopson) from shooting 3's. Hopson needs to also understand he's a man.

We Need to find a loopole that says Chris Lofton has like 4 more years of eligibility.

I will stand on the baseline if that's what it takes. I swear to God I would punch one of them in the face if they weren't playing well.

My apologies for a long post but I'm going to give it a shot real quick and break it down in what I think this team needs to change and do.

Bruce Pearl
Grow some balls and take control over this team. Stop letting the kids go to Atlanta for weekend trips and dictate basketball as a second priority behind education. Maybe develop an Adolf Rupp type of attitude and put a little bit of fear in their eyes. He seems more like a friend than a coach. Review the game tapes and make adjustments and changes were they need to be. Practice more set plays and develop some type of rhythm in the halfcourt.

Tyler Smith
Become a leader on the hardwood and put this team on his back. Develop a better mid range game and stop with that predictable spin / crazy shot combo I see every time he gets in the lane. He's too predictable.

Scotty Hopson
Quit acting like he's afraid of contact and be more aggressive. Gain more confidence and understand that even though your 3 ball isn't going down, you can still be as deadly and a game changer when you attack the rim.

Bobby Maze
Stop underestimating the ball handler. He needs to respect his opponents more on defense and stick with the same level of intensity the whole game when guarding the handler. Develop a higher basketball IQ and watch for screens and change ups. I'm sick of him getting lost on defense and then looking like a deer caught in a headlight.

J.P. Prince
Understand that a season is longer than 3 or 4 games a year and show a bit more consistency. Stop bringing the ball up so high when you cross over or go with your right hand. Work on free throws and shooting 5 feet from the rim.

Wayne Chism
Play like a true center/forward instead of a 2 or 3. Stop picking up smaller guys on defense straying you away from the paint. Crash the boards and continue elevating your game at the freethrow line.

Melvin Goins
Learn to shoot freethrows better. Also, develop a higher IQ when driving in the lane and knock off all those ridiculous charging calls. Continue to get quicker.

Brian Williams
Be more aggressive on the boards and use your body more to your advantage.

Renaldo Woolridge
Hit the weights and gain more muscle so you can be more dominating in the post. Stop jacking up 3's and learn to pass the ball better.

McBee doesn't deserve a scholarship IMO. This aint the NBA and one dimensional players are more costly than their worth at the college level. Even if his 3 ball goes down 40% of the time, he's too much of a liability on defense and doesn't have the speed to get around other guards to take it inside. We have enough potential around the perimeter to take away minutes from someone else that is better taking the ball to the hole and playing better defense. Maybe he'll progress but he'll never be a starter.

We need to find our identity
I believe this team may already have an Identity and it's not one they want.

What this team needs for the most part can't be coached or bought. It's called heart and a fearless determination to not be outplayed defensively or on the boards.

I agree 100%. Seems like Tennessee basketball is pretty low on their priority list. I hate it.

agree with shaun ,in everthing because mays drove ball against purdue chis set pick and instead of being smart he did not roll to basket but opted for the three point line ,if he would have rolled to basket they may have picked him up but atleast chism would have been in rebounding position.and tyler stayed to long he isnt even the same player we need 17 to 20 from him.

What do they need!! Attitude adjustment, and if they still do not want to work hard, then TAKE THEIR SCHOLARSHIPS AWAY!!

I would rather see mediocre players that work hard play, then watch a bunch of talented fools play half ass.

Tyler Smith has the look of someone who's come to the realization that he's as good as he's he's going to get, and it's not quite good enough to live his dream. He's gotta get over it.

Redbull. Seriously, these guys like energy and passion. It's clear with the way they don't hustle for the ball. I was at last nights game and was amazed at how sluggish they looked.
