Fields had the same amount of rebounds as Maymon did in a third of the minutes. He had 0 TO's to Maymon's 2 (maybe 3). Fields didn't take any bad shots, and Maymon took two or three. Last game, Fields had two blocks, a steal, and two rebounds in 5 minutes. Those two statlines sound pretty good to me when you consider the amount of minutes he played.Surely it couldn't be that he hasn't done anything whatsoever to help the team in the last five games.

Fields gives us extra possessions by actually trying to get offensive rebounds and he's good defensively. He actually knows his role. Sure, he has little finishing ability and loose hands, but he's played well recently. I think of him as a worse version of Ben Wallace.
At some point, you've got to give other guys a chance. I didn't like the fact that Maymon got so much PT tonight, but he at least was aggressive on the offensive front unlike Fields whose only job is to boot easy layups/dunks.
Maymon played better than Fields has of late. I'd stick with Maymon, at least you get a better defender there. None of the 5's are going to contribute much on the offensive side of the floor, might as well go with who's giving the most effort and last night Maymon gave some effort. Refreshing change.
What has Fields done? Where's Dooley sack of potato's comment. Neither are great, but Maymon played some defense. Fields will block a shot then give up a easy one. Had that been the case the other night Vandy would have dominated inside.Do I need my eyes or my memory checked? Have I been watching the same games you have watched? What has Maymon done that is better than Fields? I can't think of one. To say he plays better defense, I don't get that either. Sure, Maymon hustles, but it is rarely a hustle with any kind of control or thinking.
