What happened to Kirby's "We took zero from the portal, these are the kids that want to be here"?

Pretty sure that was a shot at Saban about how he took so many transfers (including a WR from UGA). Clearly he sees the need to reload his WR room with some sure to portal out and others exhausting eligibility.

He was posturing for his signing class and clearly had these two wait so it wouldn’t affect the incoming Freshman’s choice. They just went from one or two good WRs to probably the best trio in the country. But who will be throwing to them is the question.

Well, sucks for us. Can’t believe neither of those guys wanted to get showcased in this offense. Kind of a head scratcher. Unless of course it’s just money.

They’ve got three 4-5* QB’s on the roster, they’ll find someone in there.

I think perspective on development into pro-style offense is key here. At UT, there’s no doubt that the production numbers would be massive. But UGA forces it’s WR to run the whole route tree and know the various option routes. I think that’s why the UGA secondary covered so well. They dared UT to run something other than a go route and were content to give the short underneath throws.

Who will get drafter first a Tennessee or a UGA WR? The offense run not going to affect draft.

This season it’s going to be a UT guy for sure. But not every player fits the mold of what UT needs for it’s offense. Can’t fault a kid for finding a school that fits their own needs.

He always made me laugh with that. It was before the portal, but he has no issue taking Arik Gilbert, Ethen Wolf, JT Daniels via transfer. It was before portal but they all had instant eligibility if I recall correctly and 2 were from the SEC. Those are just the ones that come to mind, but hooray for him and his team for keeping guys from a NATIONAL TITLE team that lost tons of started meaning the guys would move right up to starting roles. I’m sure it was a tough sell to keep those boys in the fold.

True most likely, but Kirby always seems to latch onto a QB and ride him come hell or high water.

I really dunno what Georgias QB room looks like after Bennett, but I imagine he has several highly rated recruits-and those guys are all gonna wanna play. It's the way of the world now, you lose a QB competition you most likely transfer (Big Joe being the welcome exception here).

Honestly, I can't even blame the QBs anymore. With the huge NIL money being tossed around-even for a guy who is decent but doesn't have much of an NFL future. A million bucks minus taxes, etc to go along with a free education gives them a leg up on life most of us aren't lucky enough to experience. Woulda been nice to be able to just be able to go buy a house with cash when I got my first "real" job instead of wasting away tens of thousands on rent for a few years until I could scrounge up a down payment.

Two 5*s and a 4* on the bench right now.

Really surprised we aren’t seeing skill position players line up to play in this offense after the season we just had. Still think we will end up adding 1-2 WRs from the portal over the off-season.

You are correct and remember the self righteous campaign about it's out of his hands because of the sec rule about transferring when we got Gibbs and Mays?

He was never saying that he was against taking guys from the Portal, he later clarified that he had transfers every other year he has been there. They just didn't take any last year. That was just a fact, not a philosophy. Eli Wolf for one grad transferred there from here to there early in Pruitt's tenure, 2018-19ish.

That's exactly what he was doing . His self righteous attitude cements him as a jerk! Doing his best to throw shade on Hooker and the vols

He wasn't talking about Hooker transferring in two years prior. Bennett transferred back in around the same time. Some of y'all cling to this victim mentality so hard.

I hate UGA fans more than I hate their actual program. Smart has always been respectful towards Tennessee for the most part and seems to have a good relationship with Peyton. UGA fans otoh are idiots primarily. They have the lowest football IQ of any fanbase we interact with. I'm a little older than most. I grew up before we really ever played them or Florida very much, and so I hate Bama by far the most of the 3.
