6 million a year for 5 years. No buyout, leave after one year you owe us nothing we owe you nothing.Total control of football operations. TOTAL CONTROL! Nobody will tell you how to do ANYTHING! Gruden would come I think with that type of contract.

I agree with everything except leave after only 1 year without penalty. I believe you say after 4 years possibly. We can't have another Kiffin situation.

I know but you have to take a chance with this Saban type contract. People want a quick fix and this would be one. Think of the quality recruits this guy would bring in immediately.

What difference will that make. Some NFL people are hearing that Jim Haslem is going to offer Gruden $7-$8 million per year to coach the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were Gruden's favorite team growing up.

Hell...pay him 7 million. Tennessee needs recruits in a bad way. Tennessee could hire a good coach but without bama and lsu type players it's just another mediocre team.

Look at Chavis' defense at LSU. They are headhunters! It's talent. Chavis was garbage at Tennessee when there was no talent. Example : has Alabama beat....then goes into the mustang prevent that he made so popular at Tennessee and they let McCarron dink and dunk down the field for the win. It's talent and we need it!

Woah boss.. I'm no historian but I'm pretty sure Chavis consistently fielded top 10 to top 15 defenses year in and year out...is that top 5 ? No...but we'd possibly be looking an 8 or 9 win season in the face right now with a Chavis led defense on the field

Sr....how many points did Florida use to rack up on us? Maybe garbage was the wrong word but with raw talent sal would probably be a little better.

Chavis benefited from some of the most talented defenses ever at UT. He may have had the numbers but anyone who went through those years knew that if it came down to the end of the game or 3rd down and long, he would screw it up more often than not against a good team.

You're right...and my original response wasn't a dig on you.
I was in support of the Fulmer fire, however, I don't understand how anyone can look at any of the last 4 defenses that have been fielded at UT and say Chavis wasn't great at what he did..

He's still doing it at LSU, and yes with much talent...but talent also goes where it knows it will be well coached..

He needs to tell him Cheek has agreed to reduce the admission requirements to the same level of Alabama and Florida retroactively.

I thought Hart came out and said that the UT athletics budget is in poor shape. Where is all this money going to come from? I think 2-3 mil is all they'll be able to come up with, realistically. Add to that the 5 mil over 3 years that will be owed Dooley. Not looking promising, folks. I'm predicting another up-and-comer (e.g., Smart). :p

Big time boosters.

LOL! You guys think there are just a bunch of millionaire boosters who will just dump a ton of cash at the drop of a hat. They aren't buying stock here. They won't get the money back. So, business may see an uptick. Still has to be enough to justify the investment. These folks are businessmen.

That is exactly what we think. Because there are. Unless you're paying no attention whatsoever to what has been going on.

I've seen a lot of reports from so-called sources, which have failed to deliver. Well, you guys keep waiting on the millionaires to sweep in and save the day. I'll be here in the real world.
