Bruce, my friends...It's all about The Pearl.

Football is still my favorite. Followed by Pat's team, then the men's Hoops team.

I hope they give me something to cheer for this year. :cross:

Pat's team plays about one game a year that interests me(UCONN)...and that's only if I remember to turn it on.

Watching Peyton keep the streak alive and beating the Bungals......

Unfortunately they are not the Bungles anymore - should be a great and pivotal game.

Colts have a tough schedule going forward - only 2 teams remaining with losing records.

Ohio State/Michigan, Alabama/Auburn, and the Colts/Bengals game... even though I'll be subjected to a Titans game.

If the men are playing well this season, there could be a couple of games that are pretty interesting, don't we play Texas and OK state this year? Or is it Oklahoma, I know we play Texas...But to ansewer the question about this weekend, I'm looking forward to Bruce Pearl's debut, The football game has me nervous LOL

Well, I'm always a football fan first until late December, though as the month goes on both the Lady Vols and the men's hoops tend to press on me.

This year, though, given the way at least the head of the football coaches is acting about whether there is a problem or not, and the way so many are willing to scapegoat a CF sub-coach rather than deal with the over-arcing problem, I'm personally thinking we ought to be putting off our Lady Vol and men's Hoops interest for awhile.

At least until somebody explains why nobody in ESPN-land, which apparently considers us all trailer-court trash, has yet tried to make a joke comparing the football and basketball coaches which involves the phrase, "Pearl's in Front of Swine".

Have always been first and foremost a Volunteer football fan, still am, but it's interesting to follow MemphisVol since I also live in Memphis. We all must agree that the football season is a little less than what we expected and basketball season seems a little more appealing. Watched the Memphis Tigers Thursday night and must say they have an unbelievable basketball team. I wouldn't be surprised if they take Duke to the limit. Watched the Vols basketball team tonight and they looked pretty good against ETSU. Wasn't too happy with the cocky chest pounding, however. GO VOLS, BEAT VANDY but when b-ball season starts look out for the Memphis Tigers!!!

We are still playing for a bowl game. Remember, we are second to Bammer in total bowls in College football. Id like to pass them one day.

52 to 45 games

Bamma is 29-20-3
UT is 24-21

I'm right there with ya. However, the bowl record in the past 5 years leaves a lot to be desired..

with great 20/20 hindsight, the basketVols were awesome last night. Pearl seems to be the reincarnation of Ray Mears.....on speed! 21,260 fans, Vols break into 3 digits on the scoreboard, Vols force 33 turnovers on defense ( no exageration), 23 point margin of points, Pearl stays and shakes hands with the fans when the game is over. Look what this guy has done in only a few months. The game was FUN to watch.

Yeah we are 2-3 in the bowl games the last 5 years (Cotton and Citrus wins). If you look at the over record of some of the tradition power houses you wont feel as bad. Here are a few and we are killing them in bowl appearances. Hopefully we will get number 25 this year.

Florida 14-18
Nebraska 21-21
Texas 21-21-2
LSU 17-18-1
Ohio state 17-19
Notre Dame 13-13
Michigan 18-18

Believe it or not Ga tech has the best overall winning percentage in bowl history. 22-11 .667
