I have been going to UT games since the Bill Battle years and although I don't get to every game I have been lucky enough to attend some of our biggest wins.

I saw Neyland transported back to the 90's and early 2000's! I can't remember when Neyland was this loud for this long! The noise was actually painfull on the ears in the 4th qtr!

I saw an, out manned in almost every position, TN team hold one of the top teams in the country to 24 points (the TD at end of regulation was a gift from the ref's IMO the pass int. was a bull**** call)! Remember they slapped 45 on LSU. Not exactly chumps.

I saw 100,00+ fans standing and screaming for almost an entire half! Actually I don't really remember sitting the second half!

I saw 50+ recruits standing and cheering like VFL's for the entire 4th qtr! They were just below us from Y6. If you don't want to play for TN after This game, you never wanted to be here in the first place.

I saw our "Overrated" Oline protect Worley and make Neal now the second leading rusher in the SEC! Overrated my ass!

I saw a new coaching staff, that has made a career out of doing more with less, do it again! Going for it on fourth down, a few tricky plays, and Worley, Neal, Palardy, the freshman, the WALK-ONS! Can you say "COACHED UP" or "SECOND HALF ADJUSTMENTS"!

In short, I saw everything that me and most everyone else, did NOT expect to see. A united team, playing as hard and passionate for 60+ minutes, as I have seen in years! And if you can't see that things are changing for the better, I feel sorry for you.

And yes I know that we did not get the W. But if Butch and Co. can continue to get this kind of effort from this roster, then the wins WILL COME!

I said this before the season started and feel it even more strongly today:

Got my first season tickets this year and I don't think I have ever been this excited for Football Season.

I will Cheer until I am hoarse at games.

I will be insufferable when we win.

I will be completely depressed for days when we loose.

I will not live and die on every play (of course I will).

I will drink all the booze I can get my hands on while tailgating (its my Duty and I will not shirk it).

And I will support my beloved Vols no matter what happens! And never, EVER BOO MY TEAM AND COACHES!

Ahhhhhhh Football Time in Tennessee!

That's encouraging about the recruits. Having all those guys there and having the crowd huge and into the game is big, IMO.

If we'd have been blown out and the place was a ghosttown in the 2nd half, wouldn't have done a lot to sell the program to the undecideds.

I wasn't there, unfortunately, but I got the same impression. CBJ is the right man for the job. The spark is back.

It was a gutty performance. I wouldn't call the last TD a gift. UGA still drove down the field and converted a couple of 3rd downs.

Just one more stop! Still, can't argue and the effort and maturity shown.

Saturday night was both heart breaking AND encouraging!

Our goal for this season has not changed! Get to 6-6 and get to a bowl! Virtually everyone thought we'd be 3-3 at this point in the season and that's exactly where we are. I just hope this team internalizes Saturday's loss and uses it to make them better! I hope it doesn't have the opposite effect and discourages them!

S.Carolina
Alabama
Auburn
Mizzou
Vandy
Kentucky

We've got to find 3 more wins on that list!

Totally agree. Well said!

I hate it when the Vols lose but I certainly feel more encouraged after Saturday's performance than I did after the Oregon, UF, and USA games.

We all knew UT would lose some games this year but I wanted to see a competitive team. Last year's team was competitive in Oct as well. I just hope this team can keep it together. If so, they'll be fine.

The ones who were booing Worley in the 2nd quarter are the ones who made Neyland intolerably loud in the 2nd half. The whole fan short for fanatic thing is cliche but true.

We can go 7 - 5 if we steal two from USCe, Auburn or Mizzou.

Now that our boys saw what they can do, i think it boosted their confidence enough to win more games. I hope they open up the playbook a bit more in the coming weeks.

BTW, great post OP.

Hard to steal 2 w/o getting any stole from yourself. All 3 of those teams should be favored. I'll be okay with one win if we look like a football team in all three.

All until they kicked the field goal that was one of the gutsiest and most exciting games I have ever watched at Neyland. Just amazing. Hope we see more of that but with happier endings this season.

Oh and our D brings the pain. They may have some lapses like when they let Murray loose but I'm sure opposing offenses are taking note on the number of guys we have knocked out of games. Never want to see someone injured but it's always good to know your team is hitting hard and making opponents pay for yards.

Exactly right DD! The thing that made it so good was it was so unexpected!

I mean really, after the FL and SAL games I really expected a potential blowout, and I was worried about the doucher Boo birds if that happened!

Like the OP, I also bought season tix for the first time. Great post. I've been to big SEC rivialry games in Neyland since 1988. This was, at times in the game, the loudest I remember it.

I was only able to watch it on TV but it sounded like fans were really only booing the tail-tucking Jones did at the end of the 2nd Quarter.

I saw a team make an illegal u-turn against the #6 team in the country.

Also, Sutton is a damn beast.

Sutton is a beast
Vereen is a beast
North is a beast (minus the drop)
Swafford was a beast

others were beast too but pointing out the Freshman.

The future is bright, these were all Freshman making plays.

TBH lots of people had revisionist history after the game. That game was largely flat as hell through the 1st half. The crowd was being taken out of the game. In the second half though the damn burst and all hell broke loose.

Why not a sweep of the rest of the schedule!
2 of my daughters went to UA and 1 of their husbands is an AlabamaFanatic. He said he was worried about the play of UA this year and that if UT keep getting better as they have been, then we will have a game come time to play UA. He was amazed at the new effort from our team, especially Whorley. We absolutely knock off USC.

Go Big Orange!!!!

I really like AJ, but I wish he would stop with the arm tackling. That is frustrating as h#!!...

We blocked a damn punt! And scored with it! I can't remember the last time I saw a UT team do that. This team is getting downright nasty and I LOVE IT!

It gets me pumped to see these Freshmen making plays. Reeves-Maybin a stud on special teams, North at wideout, and Vereen giving me a flashback of what it was like when UT had pass rushing DE's. The future is bright
