Yesterday was the first time in 10 games that a Heupel team was down at the half and came back to win.

It was ugly, but as is often said, "Good teams find a way to win."

We have to get a lot better before next week, but Alabama (and Georgia for that matter) is very beatable.

Go Vols!

Joe has gone from not being a good QB to being a liability. The coaches and team had to overcome Joes bad passing and bad decisions to find a way to win.
The RBs played great, the defense stepped up huge, and special teams (other than one missed FG) had a huge impact on the game.

It may take more than that to have a chance to beat Bama and GA. Not gonna beat them with a one dimensional offense

It was actually CJH's first time ever as TN coach winning a game while losing at halftime. He has also never lost as TN coach while leading at halftime.

Yeah, we should hold him accountable for all those first down runs that gained less than two yards, and inspiring the penalites to put him in 18-20 yards to go situations, and the drops the receivers had too. Everytime they showed downfield shots on TV I saw very little if any separation by the receivers. JUST GUESSING that the OL that allowed all kinds of pressure in the pocket is out there because they run block well since that is what the evidence shows.

Joe has not shown the consistency we all desire, but hate all our low end fans abandon the same guy that was bowl MVP not that long ago with some better blocking pieces in front of him. At least the chronic nay sayers cannot continue the afraid of contact garbage when he clocked defenders on his runs when they really needed to extend drives. Still have some idiots posting he ran out of bounds to avoid contact in the MS game.... when video evidence shows that to be untrue. Note the serious shot to the CHOPS in the screenshot AT THE SIDELINE. Yes it is the tenth time I have posted this shot. Deal in facts and the truth..... that should be enough to push any agenda, don't need to make stuff up.

Stfu dude. Milton sucks and has killed this offense. Who are you to call anyone who acknowledges this as some kind of low end fan.
Milton is the reason this offense is struggling. 38 yards passing at the half. 100 yards total. Terrible

If we could just insert "Orange Bowl Joe" into the lineup this coming Saturday, I would love our chances of winning.

He is a 6th player and in his 3rd year in this system. It does not appear that the coaching staff has much confidence in his ability throwing down field, and it appears that the receivers are almost surprised when the balls hits them in the hands down field.

Joe is just who Joe is, but he is not an SEC caliber quarterback. He seems to be a great person, but he cannot make quick decisions and cannot throw anything but bullets.

In summary he is a liability and it is time to at least move to a game manager if we don’t have a difference maker ready at the QB position at this time.

My brother in law and I will be there next week. I sure hope we can win but my confidence is pretty low at this point.

I just wonder how much of Joe’s woes have to do with Hazzle’s offense? Haven’t seen the schemes implemented last year with the wide splits crossing, sucking the safety to the middle of the field. Haven’t seen any of the creativity we saw with CAG’s scheme. Honestly, I don’t believe our coordinator is nearly as good at creating mismatches as what we had last year.

That said, I also believe Joe waits too long before throwing the ball. Can’t say it’s all his fault as the receivers are not getting any separation, but there is such a concept as throwing your receiver open.

I agree with the assessment that some have done the passing game no favors by dropping very catchable balls. Keaton had at least 4 key drops last night, one for a sure TD.

What I will lay at Joe’s feet is the obviously bad decision on the interception in the end zone, the slant routes where the ball is thrown way behind the receivers, and his refusal to pull the ball and take off when the end clearly crashes down on the runs in the middle of the line.

We won an old-time football game were field position mattered. At the point the coaches realized and resigned themselves to that it was going to be a game where the defense, on both teams were going to dictate who won, it became a matter of making decisions that attempted to keep the other team out of field goal range. Field position at all times became the most important part of the game. It has been a long time since that mattered.

Could we have blown this game open - maybe. The penalties and dropped passes that should have been caught were the primary deterrents to scoring more points, even if they had just been more field goals.

Last season spoiled everyone - but the truth is you don't win championships without a defense. UGA shut us down last year with defense and we did not have the defense to shut them down and make it a field position game. Bama last year was a track meet - NO DEFENSE by either team so it was a boat race to the finish and the last team with the ball won. Some of you may not agree, but UGA and Bama has won their championships because of their defense, not because of their offense.

The question I have is not about the offense but about whether our defense, after the showing the last two weeks, is that good, which is good enough to control the line of scrimmage, send QB's running for their lives and thus control field position flipping it when we need to regardless of who the opponent is.

Just my strength.... unlike all the self professed QB savants, I specialize in fan analysis. You know, pointing out all the folks claiming ORANGE status that cannot find it in themselves to at least celebrate EVERY victory, regardless of it's beauty, before taking shots at the weak points on the field. Something wrong with that mental makeup, when you have to prioritize agenda pushing that much. And then they band together to justify behavior by their buds that they would crucify players and staff for. Predicting defeat for the next game before the first play, really?

You wanna be a VOL, be a VOL.... if you want to be a sports consumer self identify and go for it. I will defend my portion of the VOL foxhole the way I see fit.

Lol. QB savants? It doesn’t take a savant to see the train wreck we have at QB.

Bama and GA both look beatable this year. Just average QB play and we would have a chance in those games. Unfortunately, Joe is currently playing way below average

Unfortunately, some of this is why some mock the fan base. Complain when we lose and complain when we win.

I seriously hope the coaches, players and any their family members avoid this place and any social media during the football season.

I think he loses confidence when he does the right thing early and doesn't get the results he should have. He usually throws it 100mph, but he lofts a nice 20mph throw early in the game to a wide open Keaton and he drops it. That was a Touchdown. We ended up not even scoring on that drive.

He’s not wrong. We have 1 SEC level receiver right now. ONE. Joes isn’t great, but there are worse QB situations in our own division.

I understand that it’s easy for couch coaches to point and pass on their own anger onto one player, but it’s wrong.

You defend your view of free speech and I will mine. Though not exact, requirements for the player portion of the BIG ORANGE NATION and the fan portion should be somewhat similar. What makes bad teammates also makes bad fans. Can’t justify bad plays or bad posts. Their existence are both facts. As usual, those that dish it out can’t take it. Facts are facts, use them, don’t have to avoid them. But sugar coating or overboard subjective negative ANALYSIS neither have any value add.

Pointing out the VOL NATION would be better off benching fans is just as much in play as players. Buying tickets and flags does not buy immunity. The THIS IS A FAN BOARD defense is weak.
