What if Peyton retired after this season?

When the Chiefs are not +6 in wins this year compared to last, let me know.

Chiefs are good. Especially on defense. Andy Reid was a godsend for them. The turn around from last year is incredible. However, they still struggle on offense and aside from the common opponents to this point have played a lack luster schedule so far. I'm not ready to anoint them SB contenders quite yet though. I fully expect them to give the Broncos all they can handle but we will no more in two weeks.

FWIW I hope the Chiefs keep winning. That will force Manning to keep throwing TDs late in the season and get his record back.

Anyone who keeps bringing up this topic is now blatantly ignoring what Manning has already said about the matter. And don't even act like you're just bringing it up "for discussion" since for one, it's been discussed TO DEATH here and two, it's 100% your fantasy for it to happen.

An obvious point that may or may not have been brought up.

*Peyton is LOVED in KTown

*Lose coaching for the Big Orange and watch your adoring fans start hating on you.

He has everything to lose and not much to gain coaching here.

You are correct that Manning is basically calls all the plays for the Broncos, but that does not mean he would be a great Offensive Coordinator. Manning's most notable quality is reading defenses when he gets to the line of scrimmage, anticipating what's going to happen, and then making the throw to the right spot once the ball has been hiked. Unless his quarterback has an earpiece in and can have Manning yell "THROW IT TO THAT GUY!!!" there's no guarantee that success will automatically come from him being the OC.

Great players don't always make great coaches. I think he could be a great mentor, and potentially a great coach, but that doesn't guarantee success as a college OC.

Nobody is saying he should be a HC, but if you don't realize by now that Peyton is BOTH the QB and the de facto Offensive Coordinator for his team, then you should just STFU and sit down. You have nothing to contribute to the discussion. Everyone....but you, I suppose, knows he runs the offense, and for this reason he can step into any OC or QB coaching job he wants.

Again, all you smart-mouth a$$hats won't have shiite to say once he retires. Again, there WILL be no shortage of offers for him to be an offensive coordinator or QB coach. The list will be longer than his HS offer list.

He may choose the broadcast route, instead, but Peyton isn't a HOF shoe in because of his athleticism. It's because he has a brilliant offensive mind and unmatched work ethic. He enjoys playing mental chess games with opposing DC's. This is why I personally believe he will feel compelled to continue to compete....mentally...by coaching, rather than commentating.

The question is whether he decides to go out on top and retires after this season. And if so, would CBJ offer him the job at UT? It's a legitimate question to ask. Peyton already runs a fast tempo offense, so it wouldn't be a drastic change in offensive philosophy.

One, that wouldn't be considered by coach Jones unless coach Jake was offered and took a head coaching job somewhere. He's been with coach Jake a long time, and Butch is too loyal a person to dump him.

Two, Peyton runs fast tempo pro style offense, and Butch runs a spread offense.

Just don't see it happening next year or anytime soon. Everyone including me would love to have Peyton back at UT in some capacity, but all the stars would need to align for that to happen anytime soon.

Is it so hard for people to understand English? Peyton has said over and over again that he has no interest in coaching. People just simply refuse to understand this. HE ISN'T COMING HERE TO COACH!

Why would he want the 20 hour days, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year headache of being a college head coach to make a few million bucks when he could do 2 -3 Buick commercials and make the same amount. If he is anything like his dad he will enjoy the time by spending it with his wife and kids. Who said he would be a good head coach anyway?

$20 million - NFL Quarterback

$350K - UT QB coach
$850K - UT OC
90-100 hours a week....on the road recruiting....never seeing his familiy. Yep. Sounds exactly like PM's priorities to me.

Can we PLEASE stop with this. :horse:

I think it will be another 3 or 4 years before he retires. I feel like I'm one of the very few people that feel like he will coach instead of doing tv work. I feel like he just loves the game, offense, competition etc.. To much to not coach. And because of his sheer football genius and other obvious reasons I would love to see home coach UT, idc I'd we already are rolling and have a championship team. My only question is would he actually choose coaching at UT over coaching in the NFL?
My dream team would be
Cutcliff HC
Peyton OC
Chavis DC
Fulmer for AD

I think when Peyton retires the television networks will be fighting for him.

If he does by chance decide to coach, I would not be surprised to see him start under Cut. He has great respect for Cut and his teaching ability.

Flame away VN.
